Meta Tags Vs Keywords

Hi All,

I have a very inexperienced question but something that has confused me for a long time.

Are Meta Tags keywords?

If i'm using wp and a SEO option is to enter Meta Tags, do i enter all the keywords i can find or just a few?

Do i add all the words iv tagged on posts to the Meta Tags?

I'm confused.

Any help will be much appreciated.

  • Keyword meta tags won't help with your Google SEO, but it's still good practice.

    For Wordpress, just put the tags from your post plus any specific keywords you are trying to optimize for. Don't spam it with every keyword you can find - it won't do you any favors.

    • Treat metatags as a map guide for engine bots.

      Whatever keywords you place there, they'll particularly look out for it.

      It used to be more important though, nowadays it's just about the backlinks.

      So worry less about the meta tags and focus more on building backlinks.
