How do I find out where I am ranked locally?

I want to find out where my websites are ranked in google for specific keywords, but I want to do this locally - specifically on google.co.uk.

Most keyword ranking tools - the search engine ranking checker from seobook and other online tools just seem to report on google.com but I am much more interested in the UK search engine results

Is there any tool out there that can help?

It appears as though you live in the area you want to search. If your IP Address is central to the area you are interested in searching, all you need to do is to go to Google.co.uk and conduct the search just like your potential prospect would.

As Google takes your IP Address into account when serving up results, it should give you the most relevant/usable information.

Now, if you want to check results in an area outside that which you live, you can read this blog post to learn more: See Google Results As If You Are In Another Country - Search Marketing News Blog - Search Engine Watch (SEW)

Hi - sorry, thanks for the responses but it's not quite what I was asking (my fault!)

What I mean is how do i track where I am ranked on google.co.uk without trawling through pages of google listings?

For instance I seem to be ranked reasonably highly for Keyword1 on google.co.uk (I am certainly getting some decent hits to my website for that search term and when I search locally on google.co.uk I am number 9). This is borne out by my traffic stats coming from google.co.uk. However when I use search ranking tools through SEORUSH (mozilla plugin) I am not in the top 100 because it returns results from google.com. that is fine for keyword1 where I can tell easily where I am in google.co.uk.

However, I have another 10 or so keywords where I can tell where I rank on google.com easily using available tools, but would like to know where I rank on google.co.uk without trawling through all the pages of google for each keyword. I can't seem to do it easily with the tools available.

Does that make sense to anybody?

To check local listings for where you rank you can use google.uk and sort by 100 searches per churn. I wish I knew of an easier way but this is how I would go about doing it. I use market samurai to check my listings but they don't have a localization feature - at least not one that I know of.

Thanks Zeze for taking the time to reply

Funnily enough I have done exactly what you suggest and have found my other keywords languishing around the 50 mark (they are around 100 on google.com)....

Changing the search results to 100 is a useful tip when trying to search for a rnaking quickly (it also means you appear on Page 1 of Google if you are in the top 100) .. LoL

If anybody knows any other way any suggestions woudl be gratefully received

I was thinking the same way as Kevin did as I read the title of this post. Oh well, I don't know of a site or software that tracks local Google rankings. It seems I can't help you there.

So I searched on Google. Look at what I found

Rank Tracker - Track Your Search Engine Rankings Easily!

It says here that it supports other local search engines
    Supports 634 different search engines
Rank Tracker supports 634 international and local search engines so you can track your rankings using the engine that matters most to you. The currently supported SEs include Google, Yahoo! and Bing with their localized versions plus hundreds of others — check out the complete list!
    Hope that still helps,

    Aira

Thanks to all for their replies .. just what I was looking for .. obviously didn't look hard enough myself

As a (related) aside I was looking at Googles own Webmaster tools this evening (just register your site) and they are much improved on what they used to be ... it gives a whole long list of keywords over the last month of tracking which you do rank for and their 'average position' over that time and you can sort by region ...

this is really great for seeing what you do rank for already and therefore which keywords you could throw some backlinks at for rankings improvement ...

Ok if you want your site's ranking in your region or local then mikes-marketing-tools.com will be very helpful to you.

This is possible because when Google check your website it also record your IP address also which represents your location or region.

It will show you ranking of your site and also top ranked site of your region.

I use market samurai to track the local listing in any country. Not sure whether free version also can do that, you may check it out.
