So, more than one link from the same domain, not valuable?

I'm trying to figure this one out. Let's say you're building up an inner-page... Am I getting this right, but there's huge diminishing returns after the first backlink from another domain?

Let's say I link from squidoo to domain.com/innerpage/ ... Any further links to /innerpage/ from squidoo carry much less power right? In essence, its better to just get one link in there, and move on to other web 2.0's?

If the /innerpage/ with your link is fairly low ranked, but you can later get your link on a /innerpage/ that is higher ranked from the same site it could offer some benefit.

Any backlink you can get to your site has some value. There are no useless backlinks in SEO wise. But getting backlinks from the same domain to the same page has less value than getting them from various sources.

Well as others said, Different IP domains will give some great value, So try to get maximum of different domains links. Doing on-site-optimization properly and build links for the inner pages, it will give some good results. .

And also keywords matter with the same domain, If you do domain1 for the keyword1, you can do the same domain1 for the keyword2 as well. . Hope you got my point. .

    Thank you

Agree with others, best results are links from different domains. But multiple links from the same domain still have value, for example I have pages ranked for pretty competitive terms based only on multiple links from EZA.

SEOMOZ have a tool called Linkscape for members which ranks the most important inbound links to a domain or page, you'll often find multiple inbound links from the same domain listed there. Obviously that's their intepretation not the search engines but it's quite convincing.

Toa degree that is correct but if you get an overwhelming number of backlinks from an authority site such as Ezinearticles or WF etc you can see a significant jump in your rankings. I ran a smalltest last year which I wrote about on my blog which proves this theory. I have also seen some sites dominate top spots in Google purely from hundreds of article backlinks from Ezines when at the time they had little links from other sites.

You can't go wrong by getting backlinks from other sites but 'real' backlinking strategies run much deeper than any of this.

Last days been tracking some data and can assure you lot's of links from same domain (50K) has weight in Google's rankings.

Each and every link has some sort of weight.

Thanks for the answers everyone! As you know, we all have a limited amount of time, resources, employees to invest... Which is why I was kind of trying to find out what the priority trees list looks like.

If I gathered everything right... the priority list, looks something like this, in descending order of value...

Highest Value) Link to your site from a high-authority site you've never been linked from

      V
      V

Middle Value) Link to your site from same that same high authority site, but for a different keyword (anchor text)

      V
      V

Middle Value) Link to your site from same that same high authority site, but for a different sub-page, inner-page
