Better to Nofollow Categories?

I have a website with 30 categories listed on main page.

Would it be better to nofollow all these categories, so that the main page, other static pages, & single post pages would rank well?

This is a bit of a fallacy because you may be surprised to know Google DOES take into account outbound "nofollow" links when calculating PR for the page the links appear on - and, STILL passes on PR to the destination page.

I would follow these, PR sculpting works better on sites with little content, as it really is hard to control flow and said to be pretty useless in effect. I do some tactics which help but generally will follow all categories as this is where your content is located, and these page act as hub pages, generally ranking better for shorter key phrases.

If its wordpress site you are building, you should leave everything followed, does no harm and is too much effort to try to manipulate PR.

don't bother. doing it isn't going to help and not doing isn't going to hurt.

    I'm all about that bass.
