Google Dance

A couple of my sites went from 1st page to 8th page for their main keyword since May 1st. The sites are around 2 years old and I built a lot of Profile backlinks in March and April, probably around 1,000.

Since May 1st I did not do any backlinking. Should I wait till things stabilize or continue with my backlinking?

  • I would presume this is the dance and it may be best to wait until things settle before continuing with your back linking efforts. You definitely do not want to get to many links to fast or Google will think something is up and penalize you.

  • I had the same effect and I had another issue where they pushed my website back for small errors like hiding pages or putting in the keyword too much times. Make sure its that cause I know you would hate for this to last for months.
  • Yeah many people are facing the same problem from the first week of this month, And well as you guys said, probably it's google dance. .

    And doing 1k backlinks within a time is not good for your website IMO, Am also doing services for my client's websites, and usually i don't suggest them to go big within a short time. .

  • What kind of backlinks did you use in the past time?
  • U r seeing the Google dance...let google stop that then you can continue with your backlinks.
  • I have to agree with sterday, it's not good to build too many backlinks in a short period of time. Do a little research on "natural link building" and you will see how many people actually got penalized or even deindexed because of too many backlinks in a short time span.

  • I too would not worry often when implement algo updates there can be ranking shift for a few days then things settle down to 'regular'
