I loose most of my keywords ranks someone generate tons of spam links

I am dominating many competitive keywords for my store site, but on May 5 I noticed that all my keywords suddenly drop.

I made some research and I found out in my site log that a url something like this h**p://mysite.com/?keyword-keyword-keyword which is not existing url in my site, but it display my index page content.

What I did is make some more dig and found out that 2 weeks ago there are thousands of Back Link created pointed to that url, and all those links were created same date and the worse thing is that all back links where spams.

I am suspecting that this is the reason why all my keywords drop to nothing from google search result.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

  • You may be one of the first WF reported victims of backlink spamming the competition - and then reporting it to google via Googles new "tattle-tale" reporting blog site.

    Please keep us posted.

It could quite likely be from a forum owner or group of them with xrumer taking revenge for you backlink services profile linking activities.

    based upon your signature ....
  • Are you sure you havent done nothing recent yourself?

So you are saying that someone has spammed your site, which wasnt actually a valid page on your site? So they spammed a fake page on your site? And this has somehow made you post all your positions? However you then say that the page has duplicated content of your page which doesnt make sense..... Its a known fact that Google does like a site to share the same content from page to page, and sites do get ranking effects for this.... With regards to the spamming.... Im unsure whether this could cause a ranking issue, as if this was the case, all the blackhatters wouldnt use Xrummer etc.

Please tell us exactly what happened so someone can help further.

    • No, I never use any spam software, I do manual link building to all my sites and never used spamming technique to build link to my sites or to my customers sites.
  • This has happened many times without anyone reporting anyone. If a site has good authority and trust then a mass bot campaign will not hurt it. Its insulated. But we have seen over and over again in this forum that people have used these techniques and dropped off the radar for weeks even months at a time. The days of mass automation have been numbered for months now and thats going to continue as Google refines more and more.

edpudol1973 normally you could report it but given the nature of your site I don't think Google is going to reconsider. They are going to think you did it to yourself. I'd concentrate on getting whitehat backlinks to that site form now on. Press releases etc
  • Easy solution - get some high PR backlinks, I mean direct page PR, like blog comments. IF you have some edu gov packet, build some profile links from those sites, if you have enough website passing "Trustrank" to you, should see it back to normal pretty soon.

    • Preach it brother Mike ...

... soon enough you may convert all the Automated Software "sinners".

I said 5 "Hail Cutts' " after I ran LFE on my blog network, and read your post. Im feeling so guilty I may just give myself 50 lashes with a catVe cable on sunday - we'll see how it goes ...

This was a particular gem ...

But we have seen over and over again in this forum that people have used these techniques and dropped off the radar for weeks even months at a time.

Tho while true - its also true that we have seen over and over again people use slow, crusty mundane and absurdly ineffective white hat methods and:

      1. Get aced out and back to page infiniti after their QDF factor wears off

      2. Never breach page 1

      3. Get discouraged and quit ...

      4. Remain broke ranking on page 7

      5. my personal favorite ... learn how to SPAM the article directories with pure tripe content.

      - as the SE's evolve - so will the software tools. Keep espousing their death to your own peril. The same type of people who write the measures to counter their effectiveness - write the counter-measures for that. Google doesnt have the "exclusive" on smart people. They dont hire everybody.
  • You could create a page that matches that url and then 301 it to something else like google

this might take the heat off your site if this is a malicious attack. actually, i don't think you need to create a page, just set up a 301 in your htaccess for that url.

thing is, I don't think this is an attack. why build bogus links to a fake url when they could just bomb your main domain.

unless attacks on a fake url will screw up your site and not give you any backlink benefits. building backlinks to your main domain could screw you short term but benefit you in the long term.

if that is the case, 301 that fake url to your main domain to benefit from the backlinks.

you didn't give your URL but is there another site with a similar url as yours like a .net or .org or similar spelling. could be somebody is an idiot and they are building links to the wrong site.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Jason thanks for the suggestion I will try it...
  • I'd check this out first.

Could be a matter of you have getrich.com and somebody is intending to backlink getrich.net but either they or outsourced work are backlinking the wrong site. I know I've messed up a couple of times when I'm on an all-night backlinking spree due to typos or whatever.

Try to establish why a non-existent page on your site is getting these backlinks first. If you can narrow down if it's malicious or mistakes it's easier to plan out your next move.
  • ive experience the same thing on a couple of days ago but i dont think its from someone spamming backlinks, but since its around the same time maybe google changed something

  • Once you've cleaned up the hacked pages on your site and closed the hole in your site's security that allowed the hacker to gain access, I would expect your Reconsideration Request to be approved very quickly by Google.

    Good luck!
