I've tried a bunch of the popular keyword tools and they don't seem to match or do better than my own techniques. Are there any new tools that you would consider the best keyword software? New tools That pushes some of the more established tools to the bottom of the heap. They all seem to do things the same way. Would appreciate any input on new tools that have come out in the last six months. thanks

    Hi Mike,

if you know how to use the free Google Adwords Tool it can't be beaten.
No matter what you use. If done correct I will beat ANY keyword tool within a few minutes.

Sure it will take some manual work, but again just a few minutes to find the keyword you need.
I use it everyday and I'm big into SEO.
I get all my new articles, pages, websites indexed in 5 minutes AND ranked top 20.
After that a few backlinks and BINGO.

    Regards,

    Mike

I really like Micro Niche Finder...is that "old"?
And of course it just pulls stats from the Google Keyword tool, so...
But I still like the simplicity

Yes that was EXACTLY what I was referring to. A few techniques thrown at google's keyword tools beats anything out there I have found. I am about to write a few blog posts on this and maybe an article and just wanted to make sure I had covered all the bases.

My contention is that its human beings that are searching for things and only human beings understand associations between terms. Yes software can do some synonym searching but it won't catch all the associations.

Manual actually works wonders because I can tweak the results as I do multiple searches that give me whole new possibilities. With all the software I am sitting there waiting for it to spit out results and going in directions I don't want it to.

Besides most if not all the tools are just pulling in data into their database that comes from the adwords tool anyway. It doesn't have the superior human capabilities of understanding how people think though and it always has come up short.

Most of the keyword tools are just a front end for Google's Keyword Tool and Google Suggest. It is the ability for them to keep records and the integration of competition analysis that makes them so attractive. The human interaction is still there. You make the same decisions with the keywords in the 3rd party tools as you do with the GKWT, the data is exactly the same.

Take Market Samurai for example. You add a keyword and get the list as you would with the GKWT. The list should be identical. You can then seed more keywords from that list if you like. You can view exact, broad, CPC just like the GKWT.

The one thing it doesn't do is let you seed mulitple keywords to get fresh ideas. It is also slower to navigate and this is my major gripe when doing my initial research.

A tool that is a little different for new ideas is the Keyword Scrape feature of Scrapebox. It uses different search engines and shopping websites to come up with new ideas. They can easily be re-seeded to generate some large lists of ideas. Whack these into GKWT or MS to get the search numbers and check the SEOC from there.

IMO Wonderwheel and Google's keyword tool are very effective. Sure you could get more advanced, but do you need that to make money? No.

I normally find a list of keywords using the Google keyword tool and then dump that list into Market Samurai to check the comp.

Google's keyword tool has gone down the crapper somewhat after it was revamped. In addition to showing less long tails, you can now do only 1 search before being forced to log into your google account.

    Or is it just me?
