What happens to rankings if i change contect but keywords remains?

Will my rankings drop and won't come back if i change the content to more optimized one (2x longer and keep my keywords)? I know that my rankings will drop, but will they come back?

    What i wanted to ask if i change the content but the keywords are the same, will i need to do again the hard work to rank for the #1 or i am going back to the #1 if i am already #1 before i change the content?

    If your site is ranking because of content/on page factors, then you may see some change in ranking. It can be either positive or negative.

    If your site is ranking because of backlinks/off page factors. I do not think ranking will change at all provided you do not delete the phrase.
