Would this be in violation of the Adsense TOS?

I was just tinkering around with some new formats and I figured I'd ask some Adsense junkies on this one.....the ads are above the fold and the content is below the fold so when you click on the site you see my title, description, a few pictures, and below it are the adsense ads.....below that is my content...here's a screenshot...let me know what you think?

Thanks

  • Well google places more value onto a site which doesn't lead visitors away from it.

For example, if you have a banner and adsense ads above the fold, with no good content, your site will be viewed as one who's simply trying to redirect visitors somewhere else in order to make money. Thus having a lesser quality site, meaning lesser quality visitors, meaning lower CPC's.

So although you're probably not against google's TOS for your adsense, you may be harming the value of your clicks.

You know how the quality of your landing page affects the cost per click you have to pay for ads? Well the same goes for the quality of your website which you placed adsense ads.

I have some sites which make $2+ per click, while others linger around 20-30 cents per click.

Although it depends on the niche, and the bid of the advertisers, the quality of YOUR webpage has an impact on the amount you'll receive for these clicks.

Also where your visitors came from has an affect on what you get paid for each click.

Did they arrive via a popup or redirect? These are low value visitors thus giving you low payments per click.

Did they arrive via a search engine or a good article? These are higher value visitors which will help you to earn more per click.

    Hope this helped ya.

    • I think it might, but I can't say for sure. Using an image or headline like that might violate the TOS, especially images. I use a horizontal line in between just to be safe as a kind of "divider". Something about the visitor might confuse the image to be part of the Adsense ad or something (I think)
    • Sorry but a lot of that is false information. This place is getting more and more like digital point!

First off, you are not allowed to place ads directly next to, above, or below images. That ad is directly below an image, so its against the TOS.

Secondly, what you said about google "placing more value on a site which doesn't lead visitors away from it" is a very strange statement. The CPC you receive has nothing to do with how long the visitor stays on your site. It has everthing to do with the niche, and the quality of traffic you send. If your traffic is coming from a search engine (which i suspect it is) then this is high quality, particularly if it is North American or West European.

Granted, if the site was placed under manual review, it could be deindexed if the reviewer thought it was MFA or too thin. But it will not affect the CPC.

  • It is against TOS....but MANY MANY MANY people use a very similar format. Judgement call on your part. I try to put a few lines of text between my images and ads. Templates like that usually get 15-30% CTR in my experience.

    • To have some peace of mind and not having to worry about images and ads conflicting Google TOS, I recently removed all images on my sites. Why take the risk and trying to go round the problem by putting a few lines of text, although it is your decision altogether.
  • Just got my adsense account canceled for doing this, basically. My content was ok, but thin, I though I was riding the white side of the line, but apparently not.

Just FYI. They won't care about giving you the boot in a second, and all your work is lost...

    • You got banned for a different reason. Stop speculating and assuming what happened to your account.
