What's the Point in doing PPC when Google can just randomly shut you down?

I have been studying for the past few months about SEO and PPC marketing and had determined that this was the best way to start trying to sell my products (not affiliate products, but my own actual products); however after reading some information about how Google randomly bans advertisers, this has a me a little reluctant to even do business with them.

I mean, I know I have to test and I am going to make some mistakes, but do I run the risk of being banned for making these mistakes? How can someone become profitable in this if they run the risk of being banned for arbitrary reasons? I've even read about some Mom and Pop shops being closed down and they were in the six figures. It just rubs me the wrong way to have that much investment in a company that can randomly shut you down.

Any other perspectives are very much welcomed.

Relax, Google is not stupid and does not randomly ban advertisers. The vast majority of Google's revenue comes from Adwords -- multiple billions of dollars. Why would Google "randomly" undermine itself? It only bans people who have violated its terms of service. Stay kosher and smart and you will profit from it.

    Banned
Lots of people whine about being banned, but if you've half a brain and follow the rules nothing will happen.

Just follow the terms of service and you wont be banned. Adwords is Google's bread and butter. They wont ban you at the drop of a hat.
