Multiple Backlinks From Same Forum

OK.. Say that you have a signature in a forum and you post multiple times in different threads. Does this decrease the "link juice" of each backlink? What if the pages that the anchor text appears on in your signature is ranked?

Any insight on this would be helpful..

Thanks,

Seth

I don't think it decreases link value, but it is better to have links from multiple sources than from same source.

I have had the same question. It's all very confusing!

Yes it decreases the link juice. It's important to have a variety of backlinks from a variety of different IP addresses.

Is it any better to post it in the post itself, such as as what I will do below this sentence, or in a sig?

Nope, not any better. It's from the same IP address. It might benefit you more in a clickthrough sense but not for any type of link juice.

Remember not all links are just for link juice. Try and build links that send juice/traffic. Those are the best kind.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys...

I think I read it in another thread here that signatures from posts on forums do not count as links. What counts is the link you have on your profile page.

Agree with Jacob Martus that it isnt just for linkjuice. There are sites that may not rank well for a keyword but they may get a lot of visits from say...their twitter posts. Same thing with the forum signature. I think there are some people here who do get a lot of business from their signature.

No. They count for backlinks but there effectiveness doesn't increase very much with the more posts you make.

For example, you'll get backlinks from your signature here on the Warriorforum. But the backlinks I'd get from my 300+ posts isn't going to be as effective as 300 backlinks from different sites on different IP addresses.

OK so say that I HAVE been getting a variety of different backlinks.. From forums, profile backlinks, blog comments, articles, etc.

For a couple of the forums I noticed that there are like 3 different threads in the forum that have a PR of 3 or 4... So rather than just make a single post and count that as my forum backlink for the website.. I post in all three of the threads.. Go to the url of the threads, and now my anchor text is on a few PR 3 pages.. Would I get 3 PR 3 backlinks or does the link juice diminish some because I have 3 backlinks coming from the same site?

I would consider it slightly more powerful than just 1 link from the PR3 thread. It is certainly not as powerful as 3 PR3 backlinks from 3 different sites. So, I do not believe the link juice diminishes at all.

    Thought I'd chime in here...

Depending on the competition of the keyword your going after I have several sites ranking in the top 5 just on forum posts alone. Granted I do try to spread the link juice out over several niche related forums. SO there is something said about that. Also, commenting on high PR blogs...very effective and should always be part of a solid backlinking campaign!

Most importantly, make sure the links in the signature file or blog comments are DO-FOLLOWS...a great firefox plug-in to use is called "Search Status"...here is the link for that: www (dot) quirk.biz/searchstatus

This is an awesome plug-in that will HIGHLIGHT all NO-FOLLOW links in red. So you will know right away if the forum or blog post your using as a backlink will send you some Google Love!

Hope that provides a little help

I have actually tested this and discovered that
although they don't reduce your backlnks but
they also won't add to much link juice to you.

Seth, posting on forums for the sake of link juice from the signature doesn't sound like a great link building strategy.

The effect is too tiny to rely on it, not to mention the return on your time invested.

According to me you should go for a multiple forum rather than stick with single one, you should change your signature on regular basis to maintain keyword diversity.
