What if my target market does not use Twitter or Facebook?

My target market is generally older in age, more conservative and not at all apt to be on Twitter or Facebook. What exactly should I be doing on the social sites to help my SEO, if anything? I am a member of both Twitter and Facebook and don't really care for either, especially Twitter but if it helps my SEO, I want to do it for my business.

What exactly should I do on there? Is it dependent on my getting followers? If so, I don't know if that would bring much return, as I doubt I could get much of a following. Or am I to get on my account and post links to my site? Confused.

  • The fact is eventually some of that market will,

Just post quality, relevant authoritative content consistently, when the time and your market come around and stop living under a rock you have a great chance as being viewed as the default authority and expert...

Consider yourself very lucky, most people don't have this opportunity...

Just don't use them. There's no rule that states you must use FB or Twitter in your marketing or SEO efforts. In fact, they don't work very well for most markets anyway and neither helps with SEO (at least not much, if any).

I don't use either for my SEO efforts either. I don't have any products to sell, just pure AdSense in most cases so I want genuine targeted organic search traffic. Just use it as part of your marketing mix if you feel you have to.

The last thing I want is for my friends and family to start click bombing my ads and actually being detrimental to my business.

    Good luck

So, SEO people who talk about using social sites, they are talking about, literally, getting some sales through their following? I thought there might be some kind of SEO value by posting some links to my site or something. Honestly, my clients are not the type of people to use social media. If there is no way to gain some SEO benefits, it won't help me at all.
