100+ backlinks from same source, is there a SEO effect?

Hi All, quick question - I posted a comment to a blog which has lots of pages and that also has a module in the sidebar that lists the most recent comments. As a result, I have something like 160+ backlinks coming from this domain alone. Do you think this could have a negative affect on my sites SEO?

I have noticed in the past few days that my site has slipped a few spots in the google SERPS which prompts this question. My comment is now off of the recent comments module so I expect to lose these backlinks the next time google caches the site.

  • Negative impact --> NO
    BUT, that depends if your site is very new or not.

    If not, no problem and you can relax.

    Just get backlinks from different sources.

    Regards,

    Mike

  • I wouldn't expect it to hurt you any. I also wouldn't expect them to "count" all 100+ links towards you either.

    • Ok, good to hear. More than anything I just want them to dissipear because they are cluttering up my SEO tools!
