Has Google frozen?!?

Hi all,

Has anyone noticed a recent 'stabilisation' in the Google SERPS?

I'm sad to say that I'm one of those people that checks his main KWs twice daily, and sometimes more often.

Needless to say i'm pretty aware how the SERPS jump about after each batch of High PR monthly backlinks which both myself and some of my biggest competitors in the SERPS are doing.

However, over the last ten days to two weeks, the Google SERPS haven't changed a bit. And talking about looking at this stuff over a 12 month period. Consistently, since I started closely watching the SERPS for certain keywords, they HAVE changed on almost a day by day basis but now (for some reason which I hope some of you can enlighten me), they've stopped!!!

Does anyone else think the guys at Google have all gone on holiday for two weeks and decided to freeze the SERPS?

I'd love to hear your views.

Cheers,
Martin

  • Usual, at least over here.

For some major keywords no changes for more than months. Disappointing to say the least...
  • I believe your site has found it's place in the serps. New sites will bounce up and down the serps but once it establishes itself, you will experience what you are experiencing now. Which is sorta like a serp cemented in position (changes will still occur but not as often).

    • Yup, I tend to agree with this one. It's sometimes called google dance. Some even make this as a sign that their site will be having a big jump on SERP. Because most of their sites rank higher after dropping down than before.
  • I actually experienced the same thing Martin.
My sites were not moving at all and never budged for a couple of days.

But when I checked a couple of hours ago, most of them actually started gaining some rankings. It's weird because almost all of them moved (most to higher positions). Maybe you should check again now.
  • not for me man

i have seen a lot of movement in serps (not just my site) over the last week in one of my niches that i have been aggressively trying to rank.

however this only accounts for my datacenter and specific niche so of course i cannot account for all of google

    • Google introduced major algorithm changes that are here to stay. They have made it a lot harder for certain types of low quality sites to compete, and it'll be felt by a lot of people over the coming months.

Couldn't be happier with the change in SERP results (not sure if all data centers have properly updated yet).

Doing some major testing at the moment and I'm liking what I'm seeing.
  • Good to see that i am not the only one, yes, my and my opponent rankings have been frozen lately too.

  • It is not unusual for a website to "bounce around" once it earns its stripes (according to Google) it usually settles into a consistent spot for ranking.

    • I'm pretty sure this is something to do with the upgrade to Google Caffeine - sites (including mine) just ain't budging like they used to
  • I think this has a lot to do with the effects of the last major google caffeine update wearing off.
  • How often do you update or change your content?

    • daily...(including Saturday and Sundays). It's a wordpress blog and has been well optimised (on site) for search traffic.
