Video Sitemaps - Getting your OWN videos to appear in Google search results

I got an email from one of the lists im subscribed to about a wordpress plugin that gets your videos indexed in the search engines.
I checked out Webmaster tools help from Google and it seems it is pretty easy to get your videos out there. All you have to do is submit a video sitemap along with your normal sitemap.

I do wonder about the benefits to this.. you miss out on the viral features and possibilites from Youtube.
Anyways, it might be good in some way for branding if you have a large website.
