So i finally got around to watching traffic secrets 2.0.

One of the things John Reese suggests in the backlink building lesson is that a new site should only build 1 link a day for the first couple weeks and then to increase it to "maybee 2 or 3 a day".

What a load of cobblers....

While building hundreds of links in a day will guarantee a ban anyone who spent the day building backlinks for their site can easily manage 15+ quality backlinks.

At the end of the day if your backlinking is done naturally you have nothing to worry about.

Sometimes i wonder what these so called 'Gurus' intention's are by feeding people with junk information.

    Yes there are so many myths about all aspects of the search engines, unfortunatly misinformation seems to feed misinformation !

  • Most of the time the "Gurus" are just trying to make some money themselves...

    Maybe I'm being naive here but I can't think of any reason why you would want to build only 1 link per day, even if it is for the first couple of weeks.

    So hard not to.

    Build as many links as humanly possible. Good, solid,
    reputable, high PR links.

    If you are my competition, please build links slowly.

    I have never understood the logic. That's like telling
    a new business to wait a year before advertising.
    Yeah. That'll be great for business!

    But there is more to this. I am assuming you have a site
    that has useful content. Has site structure optimized.

    I truly believe it is the people with lousy sites that get
    in trouble. But the trouble is the lousy, google-rule-
    breaking site. Not the links.

    I think I'm one of the few that talks about site quality
    as job one. And I don't mean a perfect site. I'm talking
    about a site that follows google on-site optimization and
    provides a valuable user experience.

    • I agree with you 100% !!!

      When I release a new product, i put the link everywhere, I want everyone to know about it theres nothing wrong with that, thats exactly what ur supposed to do, so long as im not spamming or doing things you know you shouldnt be doing.

      Too much talk about backlinks on here, backlinking for me isnt SEO, its marketing!

  • If your backlinking naturally then you arent doing anything at all but providing good content right?

    • The key is to build high quality content on your site that others would want to link to - naturally.

      This avoids you having to go looking for sites to get a backlink from - they come lookng for you!
  • whenever i backlink build my site disapears from some keywords and usually last for a few weeks. not sure why, main keywords stay intact. all come back later on. I wouldn't sweat doing anything.
  • If your site is new, then getting hundreds of backlinks in a single day may ban your site.

    • Agree. only if your site is brand new then it matters, but if not get as many as you want, nothing will happen.

  • No one is going to reveal his secrets. I know that because I am working with a Guru and I know He will not tell the secret of his successful marketing method.
  • This SEO myth has been debunked a lot of times by a lot of webmasters building hundred of links per day. Actually I am building hundreds of links per day to achieve better rankings for my website.
  • I don't really buy into anyone of this never build more than these many links per day talk. I just build how many ever good links I can to my site, without even bothering to count how man I have built. This ensures that the number of links I build each day is different, which seems natural.

    However, I never build links for more than an hour or so to one site, so the number of links I build per day is generally <15
  • It's humanly impossible to build "too many links" in a day to any webpage.
