What worked for me is a 300x250 block just under the title of my articles, like this

My advice is to test every position, starting with the most common ones, and then draw your own conclusions.

I also like the 300x250 either in the content or directly below it. I also like the 160x600 text ads that look like they are navigational.

Thanks for your input./I usually use the 336X280 but cant really make it fit all too well with this design and it being overtly obtrusive.

Unfortuntely you have made two completely controdicting statements

    1) Make it fit in with my site
    2) Make the highest possible CTR

I have many sites that get 40 - 60% CTR but these are sites designed for adsense money making which I suppose is different. for these sites there is an absolute best way to put them but that is the opposite of making them fit in because you actually want them to stand out.

For your website I would say it's best for them to fit in because it's obviously not the main reason you want people to do, click an ad and go away so on that basis I would probably use a portrait script going down like a menu so it fits in and could be mistaken for menu options.

You will also need to add a privacy policy and contact us page which I could not see straight away (sorry if I missed them) as you'll want to adhere to google TOS. You will also need a lot more written content on your page wich is another TOS requirement, there is also the point that adsense uses this content to deliver relevent ads

    Good luck!

By the way, someone here has already given the absolute best size to use for adsense units, not really the best place to put them though

I been running adsense awhile.I know adsense.as far as content theres not much content you can put on a chat site only the content the visitors supply within the chat box.I was asking for the new design what would work better.and I got a privacy policy.I need to add the link.I adhere to the tos.
there is content on the blogs and forums.I know one dont just throw up a blank page and put an adsense ad on.

      thanks for the input.

Ads just below the header tend to work pretty well, specially if you try to use a color scheme similar to the one used in your blog.

Also some ads inside your posts. On the right side.

Adsense works most beneficial with the substance based sites, as its ads are content based, but it doesn't know how it will work with a chat site.
