The Secrets of PR
14
Hi all,
I understand that PR is something that is widely debated in internet marketing. Some people downplay the importance of it. Some people claim that it is absolutely essential to success. I would just like to know what the heck it is...
I'm being a little facetious here. Of course I "know" what PR is, but my concern is the role that it plays in driving traffic to your website or blog. Say you have a domain name with a PR of 4. That's obviously better than a PR of 0-3, but is the traffic jump really that significant?
For an example, let's say I have a domain name that I have worked up to a PR ranking of 4 and I have a competitor that has a PR5 website. What would be the difference in traffic between his site and my own? Or is the difference in traffic even quantifiable? Can PR be used as a gauge in determining which website customers are more likely to flock to?
I suppose my main concern can be summed up this way: is PR something that I should even worry about? Do I need to monitor it constantly and find ways to continually increase it, or should I just ignore it altogether and just focus on following my business model? What are your thoughts?
Any comments are appreciated. Thank you in advance.
