I made this post on another thread but I figured I would start its own thread and see if anyone else has had this happen.........here's the post. ************************************************** **** I did an interesting test about a month ago. I did an interesting test about a month ago. I have a client who is in a very small niche. Her website was created about 4 years ago without any seo in mind. In fact for this very small niche it did not even show up in the first 300 search results.
I then started making 3 blog comments per day on NOFOLLOW blogs only, some with the targeted keywords for the anchor text in the name filed, some with just my name.
I did this religiously for every day for about three weeks, 3 comments a day.
Now my clients site in #1 on page 1 for the targeted keywords. Nothing changed on the website, zero, no on page optimization, no new content.
Now obviously because this is an ultra small niche it was much easier to move the site up in the Serps, but I now know that in terms of Serps, the "nofollow" tag has no relevance as far as I'm concerned, it might in terms of PageRank but I wasn't interested in that.
