Another WordPress problem, any advice?

I just installed a new WP blog on my hosting. I uploaded the theme 'arthemia' to the site. So I view the site to see what it looks like, as I wasn't sure. I used this site because of a recommend from http://www.warriorforum.com/members/e-brian-rose.html

In the admin area my site name appears fine. When I view the site the theme name comes up instead of my site name. Has anyone used this theme and experienced the same thing, or is there something wrong with my install?

If this is something simple that I can fix, and someone wants to tell me what needs to be done, I am game to try it. I am not real handy with code, but if it is pretty simple like find and replace, I can probably handle it.

I appreciate any feedback you can give.

If all else fails, if anyone has any news site themes they want to recomend, I would be happy to entertain them.

  • I haven't used the theme before so it's a bit hard to say without a link to your site, but have you tried to see if the sitename you're seeing in your header isn't some kind of logo or image. If that's the case you might have an options-tab to fix that, or you'll need to change some code.

  • Did you enter the blog name and byline on the Wordpress dashboard? I've noticed with my themes, it doesn't matter what is on the theme when I upload it. If I don't change those two blanks, either nothing will appear or something will appear that I don't want.
  • I agree need to see the url, dont really understand what you mean, IVe used the theme on my blogs so have used it before

  • The URL is The News Portal Online

I am about to change the theme, but if I can get this one working right, I will keep it as it is real plane and simple. There are no articles in there yet, so it looks pretty sparse.

I did put the name and description in when I built the blog with Fantascio. It shows up in the settings correctly.

    • Hey Tim, problem is, that's a image. You need to edit the PSD and upload a new image with your URL.

I use WP for years, customize what I need, both in design and coding and let me tell you: tested that theme for a old project and drop it in minutes.

      What a pain.

Edit: Let us know what you want to achieve (magazine style, I guess) and we can share some ideas.

  • Hey Tim,

Personally, I think Arthemia is a complicated theme. That does not mean you can't work with it properly.

Try it for a day or two, insert content everywhere, and only then get the visuals done.

Start by adding content, possibly just fillers, and see what happens. I can't remember what happened with me, but I do remember it started when I added content, categories, etc etc.

Let us know how it goes!
