  • What was the problem?

You do not have any headlines at all over the ads.

    - John
  • i made it awhile ago when i firs started out and have a few more tlike that i have to change. Makes me stressed as hell
  • hehee, know the feeling, I had hundreds like yours, then I started doing them again like the ones above.
  • It's set up like that for optimal onpage optimization.
  • Hi can someone take the time to tell me why Google dropped the site, it looks OK to me.
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah, not seeing the issue myself, unless he had a headline over the ads or
      something and removed it.

if the site has been banned how is Adsense Ads are still being served on it?

besides, how do you know what the problem is exactly?.
The Adsense team will not tell you the exact problem, they usually send a standard email telling you "it's against their rules" and pointing you to said rules, you then have to figure out which one(s) you've broken!.

  • Type the following in your search field:

    site:http://www.ellipticaltrainertreadmill.com/

You will see that the site is nowhere to be found.
Actually, the same thing happened to one of my domains.
It was totally de-indexed and just dropped off the face of the Internet.

Now, I don't know what to do with this domain.
  • Your right in saying Google will never tell you what the problem is. I have been teaching folks this stuff for a long time.

My guess is there is not enough content on the page. Google likes to see between 600 to 900 words of content or more. The thing is, there is way to many ads on the page. Two problems with this. The first is google may view this as a "made for adsense site" and thats bad because google wants to provide a good user experence for the searcher. The second issue is kinda tied in with the first, of having to many ads on the page. The point I am making here is with adsense "less is more".

You will make more money with adsense if you don't cover your page with ads. Just remember this: if people searched and found your site, they didn't come there for the sole purpose of clicking on your ads, they came for what they searched for.

    For what it's worth!

    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • i know, like i said its an older site that i made well over a year ago. I have to go back over my old sites and swap the ads around. Got a few like that from a whilr back. I have since changed layouts

Actually they de indexed this site along time ago i just used articles and got tons of MSN traffic to it. Oh well i will just monetize it with something else.
    • [1] reply
    • So was there a headline on top of the ads before?
  • By the way, GREAT niche! I know of a few people making $10-$20 per day on such
    a site.

    - John
  • Still can't see what the problem with the site is. Any pointer to a likely reason?
  • who knows, i still made money on it even after they sent me the email??? it made 2.39 today?
  • It did have a headline over the ads but after google let it be known they did not like that all my sites were changed with headlines under the ads
  • So I take it that you will not be counting on any traffic from Google?
Seeing that I'm in the same boat like you, even monetizing a site with something different does not mean that people searching on Google will be able to find that site.

Google just buried it. Am I mistaken in my analysis?
    Khal
  • Wow...sorry to hear about that, but what did you do wrong? I mean the site looks fine to me! I would probably design my site the exact same way. What is your advice? What did you do wrong on this site that we should look out for? I was also thinking of place two large ads right up top right underneath the header. Is this a problem?

I mean, I just look at this site and I am thinking, there is nothing wrong with it at all. I don't understand why Google would ban it?

    Thanks.
  • I would either float one ad to the left and wrap it in text or place the ads at the bottom of the content. Google will never tellus what we did wrong. I just do not understand that because if we all knew there would be alot more sites that were better for the prgram.

As the saying goes shit happens, that site made 60-70 per month so it hurts but i will bounce back
  • the site was delisted from google bu gets good traffic from articles and msn and yahoo
  • how long does it take to have the ads stopped being served? I made money on the from the site today?
  • Anyone know why my posts were deleted? Allen?
    • [1] reply
    • The one with your site example is gone.

I guess a mod thought it was self-promotion to your Adsense site or something.

      - John
  • Ok so i'm having a hard time understanding...

Assuming it's the reason for the banning.. does Google want a headline on the TOP or the BOTTOM of the ads?

I have a ton of sites out there with the following format:

    1 large Adsense Rectangle here.

    start of content.....

Is this not acceptable anymore? If that's the case i'm screwed.
  • I think they may not have liked my links page i had when i used linkmarket along time ago. I nver took it down and their quality guidelines state not to use linking schemes?

    About the headline

google recently said that ads under a headline COULD be against TOS if the headline lead users to belive they should click on the links for more information.

A headline Like "Used Car Specials" probably would get you the boot eventually.

What makes me the maddest is that they offer no feedback to help you comply?? Makes no sense to me
    • [2] replies
    • Yeah that really is ridiculous how they don't really give any direct feedback regarding the issue of the ban.

On a related note.. I think the same thing happened to Tim Gorman's credit site... I look at alot of his websites for ideas and such and I noticed that the site Receive A Free Credit Report and Score is adsense banned too...

I keep telling myself if Adsense fails i'll always have Affiliate links to put in their place.
      • [1] reply
    • Ah, I think we have the answer.

Google has been really cracking down on links.

      - John
  • i used linkmarket about a year and a half ago when i started out. i have removed all links pages from my older sites that i used with linkmarket. I hope that was it, the site is still earning money today?????????
  • better to have a site banned rather then a whole account i guess!!
  • I may be way off base here, but the same thing happened to some of my sites. I couldn't help noticing it looked like mine, basically articles and adsense, and nothing else.

Did any of you guys hear the term MFA? I asked the question "what is a MFA?" on another forum in which MFA's and getting banned or delisted were mentioned, unfortunately they kept posting but no one bothered to clarify. I took it to be "Made For Adsense". And I vaguely remember I think (age I guess) reading in the TOS or post that sites designed just for adsense clicks weren't allowed.

Does that make sense or have I been drinking to much caffeine and late nights and imagening the whole thing?

    Alan
  • who knows? Tell me how a static site with articles and adsense is any different then a blog? I think they may be gutting adsense right now and i for one am bracing to have my earnings gutted to.
  • Theres a chance they could be targetting PLR sites?
  • Wow I didn't even know google banned sites... And yours doesn't look spammy, and it isn't ard to navigate... Why would they ban your site?
  • There is nothing wrong with your site. It looks like google does banned site on random.
  • There are different types of penalty: +30 +40 +999 and zippo

    Which penalty?
  • Google can take away someones livelihood and there is no recourse!

It sucks bigtime and these are bigbrother tactics.

What's the answer? Develop sites where there are alternative affiliate programs so if your Adsense account or site is banned you at least have another way to monetize.
  • You when it comes to made for adsense article directories like ezinearticles are the ultimate made for adsense system. Without adsense they would have no income and you cannot convince me that the people who started them did so to just provide content and not for the revenue
  • I would certainly help if they told you the exact reason it was banned. Since a moderator has presumably looked at the site and made the decision, THEN made the point of sending you the email, surely it wouldn't hurt for them to give you a bit of guidance on what exactly you did wrong.
    • [1] reply
    • If they don't tell you the reason then you can't argue with them.
  • If you have 3 sites banned in quick succession, then it is unlikely to be a random event. Whatever way you look at your site, it does look like a MFA site.

I have had hundreds of sites banned in the past for different reasons. Many were cookie-cutter sites purchased on eBay that have been duplicated thousands of times on the Internet.

I think what is important right now is how to protect your other sites that are still indexed and how to a recurrence in future. Personally, I would recommend that you put up your new sites on a different hosting account just in case they are watching you. Of course, you will still have to use the same Adsense account but you would just have to trust that there is no communication between the Adsense and the Search Engine teams.

    • I had two other sites banned for putting a link unit in a table and over blending it. Really there is nothing i can do because i have no clue what the problem is. I removed all the old links pages from my earlier sites and reduced the number of ad blocks on my sites. Its a wait and see type thing i guess.

I have decided to start moving in a another direction and stop focusing on Adsense. I just cannot always have fear in the back of my head!
      • [1] reply
  • the other sites were banned almost a year ago
  • I doubt hosting accounts would matter, something so basic would be easy to detect for Goolge.
  • Banned
    [DELETED]
  • I have to find a new way to monetize the site. For now i put up bidvertiser, which has always had a terrible CTR for me.

I may throw up an Ebay ad block as well and try to get some income that way.
  • CJ should have some good products you could sell on the site. Going into the best time of the year for it as well.
  • i have to research it this weekend, for now i just whipped up some temporary stuff just to get something on there
  • Ok, i had 2 clicks for a total of .31 today lower then adsense but still income. THe only drawback is the ad pool is pretty shallow, but if you filter out the junk ads you can still get some semi targeted ads.
  • From Google's TOS under "AD Placement"

    https://www.google.com/adsense/suppo...n&answer=48182

No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant.

    ---

I guess Google kinda makes exceptions for article directories because of all the content.

Some of the sites I had (articles and adsense only) that were "delisted" had their traffic drop to zero, searchengine robots disappeared, etc., but are starting to come back when I just added some other affiliate banners.

    • I wonder if Google has a problem with sites that have 1 or 2 ad blocks above the content. Perhaps it is better if the content is wrapped around the ad block instead? It could be because it's pretty obvious to anyone that when you have 1 or 2 ad blocks stacked above the content, you're just wanting a click. Something to consider anyway...

    • This would suggest to me an advertisement-only page such as a classified ads page in a newspaper. (Wishful thinking I guess). Yes, I realize Google do not interpret it so.

It is bizzarre that should someone wish to write an article and then, sin of sins, actually place an adsense ad on the page; in the process of course, making certain it conforms to all the other crazy rules, that Google would give this particular reason for pulling a site!!!!
  • the CTR is 2.11% pretty bad but there has been a ton of traffic from this post so most of those people are not gonna click so i wuld guess its closer to 8 or 9%

still pays more then Kontera though
  • who decides if a site is made to show ads??? That always pissed me off, i could totally love elliipticals and they would never know unless the asked me which of course they don't they just assume and ban it.

Like i said ezinearticles and the other directories are the biggest MFA sites on the net, look at how many ad blocks ezinearticles has!
  • are the articles original? could be that you have way too many ebay listings on one page. The big G doesn't like to many outgoing links on one page, especially if they are affiliate links. I would think that could be a major reason for it. I've had Google slap me on adwords for sites that are ebay based. last fall I was dropping $1000 per month to advertise one site and they slapped me. The site still does pretty good though on MSN and Yahoo.
  • i just put the ebay stuff on today. article were PLR but no over distributed and rewritten slightly. I am going with the old links page i had as the reason they banned it.
  • So what happenned? I just don't see what is wrong with the site. I know you bidvertiser on them now but did they took you adsense too?

Can someone please kindly tell us what is wrong with the site or have something on the header or somewhere that was taken out?

    Thanks
    Oling
  • wierd thing was that the ads were always above the headline. I think the two ads above the content is true. Maybe even ads above the content is bad who knows.

I just switched some of my sites that had ads above the content to placing the ads after the content. I will wrap them later but for now want to stop any more disabling

So far bidvertiser gave me 3 clicks toay for .56 about half what adsense pays.
  • Hey TimG, not sure if you check your stats o those sites but have you noticed google on your sites at all poking around?
    • [1] reply
    • did you get a warning email of that particular site? if its just google deindexing your site then its still ok to serve google ads unless youre seeing blanks in your google ads.

careful though. I received multiple warning emails a few years back about a particular site of mine that they disabled serving ads and yet i waited a few weeks after, the ads were still there so I thought I could just ignore their emails. months after my whole account was disabled.

so to be on the safe side, just remove the codes. better lose 1 site than losing your account. its a pain in the ass creating a new account.
      • [1] reply
  • my guess is that line applies to the old pages that had nothing but ads on them. Basically the old arbitrage sites.
  • How many ad blocks did you have on the page and what was the layout?

Were you driving alot of traffic with article marketing?
  • captivereef,

    I think it's a combination of things:

    1. You have duplicate content - I see at least 23 other sites with the exact same first sentence - so right away Google is looking at you funny. You might try paying $4.75 on a rewrite and then plugging that in.

    2. You have stuffed your meta tags with a jillion keywords. Try reducing the number of keyword phrases to 8 or so. I looks spammy to the spiders.

    3. Your page has a lot of ads - looks like a MFA site. But I actually think the duplicate content and spammy feel (to a web-bot) is what killed you.

I hope you can get back in! I was banned from AdSense once because I placed the ads under my headlines - but not from the index. I wrote them a very polite letter and at first no reply - it took two weeks to hear anything from them - but they 1) reinstated me kindly and 2) gave me back the money they had frozen (after I asked them to). They were actually very nice about it - because I was very nice. So if you are patient, have a good reason for what happened (I just guessed what it could be and said "I won't do it again") and can be very polite, they might listen - but it takes a while.

Just curious, how many articles are out there driving traffic to this site. I have some sites out there with articles and don't see any traffic. And some sites with ardly any articles with tonns of traffic. What are your best article traffic sources - as far as article sites? If you don't want to share, I understand.

    Have a great day!
  • the site was made with PLR, not sure if thats hat did or not. I think you may have found something with the meta tags. I remember as an experiment trying to see what would happen if i added a bunch of them instead of ten. i must have gotten busy and forgot to switch it back.
]The ads that are on their now i just added in a pinch to get some sort of monetization on it.

I was not banned from adsense only the site, my account is still in good standing.
