#1 Google - 134 Million Competition - 5 Days - Proof

Now I want to preface this with saying, I was not intending for this to happen and it was not my goal. I was just amazed at the results.

Some of you may know me from the Quad Cash Profit System that I created and launched with Rob Howard (another fellow Warrior) and some of you may know me an an "offline" guy.

So I was using my system and I wrote a new book that I was going to use to attach offline business clients to do work with me. I wrote the book and published it on Amazon and of course to go along with it, I create a website.

I registered the domain name on June 2nd, but I did not install a site at that time. After the book was done, I decided to throw up a quick 1 page Wordpress blog that I could send potential customers to.

You can see the site here: Page One or Die Book (nothing is being sold on the site, and you cannot even opt-in). I am showing this for information only.

So I installed Wordpress, installed some basic plugins, and added one post with my book name with H1 tags around it. That is it, no more content was added to the site.

Here is a record of my hosting company that shows I created the site on June 10th, just 5 days ago.

So I go to Google (you can do this too right now) and I typed in the name of my book, page one or die, without quotes or anything. And too my amazement, this is what I saw:

I held the #1 and #2 spots out of 134,000,000 competing sites.

So I decided to dig a little further and I looked at the keyword: page one or die, to check out the competition. Here is what I found:

You can see that other sites have far more backlinks, far more everything that my 5 day old website.

Granted this is not a highly competitive keyword phrase, but still, without doing any work other than setting up Wordpress, not too bad.

Just wanted to share with fellow warriors.

Good stuff there man, but the phrase "page one or die" gets ZERO searches even in broad. Maybe next time you can show us how to do this with a term that actually gets searched for.

Even I can get on the first page easily. Peep the SERPs for the phrase monkeys with blue pants and white Reeboks in a few minutes.

      Yeah. Right on.

And you don't have 134 million sites competing. That's a totally bogus
      statement.

Thing is, when you point out stuff like this, the wannabes gang up on
you. They do SEO by voodoo or parlor tricks. They just don't want
to take the time to learn or work hard.

But that's okay. You are either going to do this stuff right, the first
time, or you will be back here complaining. No skin off my nose.
Call the names. Go with the useless information that just does
      not matter.

Nothing personal, although some will take it that way.

You are either going to do real world SEO or you're not.

      Make the choice.

I was not saying I did a great thing, I was just sharing some results. I even said, this is not a highly competitive keyword phrase. Just sharing here.

It's because there are only 33 pages indexed in Google that have this phrase - and most of them are your posts and sales pages.

The 138,000,000 is misleading - it's just Google throwing up loads of unrelated crap.

I'd just ignore it - it's not anything worth focusing on.

If you go through those 130million listings you'll find even then there's only 17 pages of results (i.e 806 results) before Google tells you the rest were omitted because they're not relevant enough to show.

It's nice to think cool SEO stuff is happening - but it's not.

Well with that point I would have to disagree. SEO is about many different things, backlinks, title tags, meta tags, content, and many other things. There was SEO used in setting up the blog focusing on the name of the book. Yes it is not a keyword phrase that is searched at all.

This post was not about accolades or hurrah's or anything other than showing people how easy it is to appear to rank for things. Is there any relevance to this, not really. Will I make money from being ranked for my book name, No.

This was merely a training session showing how you can rank with doing virtually nothing. These are things to look for when so called SEO experts try selling you a product and say they have #1 rankings for things.

So you wanted to train people on how to rank for a term that has no traffic. Why would anyone want to learn how to do that? and its just coincidentally about SEO and getting on the first page? You said you were amazed. You do realize that doesn't make the book look good.

incidentally we have ranked worthless terms in this forum for number one many times. The "O" in SEO is for optimization. You never need to optimize a term no one searches or ranks for. It gets zero traffic before and zero after.

Come on Keith. Have a sense of humor. It would appear you got busted with an "amazing" claim that really wasn't. Take it all in stride. You'll live to fight another day. I mean this is an internet marketing board. Its not like we haven't seen amazed claims that didn't pan out before.

If I was trying to sell and SEO product or myself for something I would admit I was busted. There was no intent to sell anything here. Its funny how quickly people want to make comments and discredit things. I would welcome being called out, if I was trying to hide something.

Time to move on, apparently my good deed for the day has flopped.

I will leave you all to continue your thoughtful comments without me.

              Good day.

If you were not trying to sell anything(ie the course you mentioned in the thread) then why the hypey title?

I knew before I even clicked on the thread that it was one of those 10 million competitors thing...but when you look further, no competition at all

These types of threads have been around for quite a while...thats why this was so easy to spot

    Hi Keith,

I believe what you are experiencing is a part of what many call the Google Dance.

When the big G is indexing sites on the net to evaluate page ranks many times new sites will rise to the top.
I believe this is to temporarily show case them(because they are new) and to see if they will sink or swim.

I'm sure that the keywords the site is ranked #1 for in the results is
because of the lack of searches and the lack of competition.

    Hope that Helps,
    Have a Great Day!
    Michael

I'm not sure what you're saying.

Yes you SEO'd it - what you're showing is that you're indexed - which will happen to anyone with one link that Google knows about.

I'm not trying to knock you for sharing just that your hyped up thread title implied that something special had happened - which is not the case.

I have new blogs that show up above 140,000,000 other pages - but I've never done anything to promote them.

As soon as a page gets indexed it will show up and whatever content is on it will be more relevant to a few phases than most of what's on the internet unless it's something really common.

You seem to think you understand seo - so you must know this stuff already and you do know that ranking for a phrase with no searches means nothing - regardless of the random crap Google also shows around whatever it returns when you look for it.

I'm not sure what you're teaching... If it's to ignore stupid claims that sound good but mean nothing - I'm right there with you.

This is a classic example of the sort of stuff newbies try to BS offline businesses with and claim it shows they know SEM, so I think it's great if you're dispelling that sort of fluff.

Not sure where you are getting hype from. I am not selling anything here, I am not asking for anything. I presented the facts at what happened.

I am sure once it gets properly indexed that it will lose rank, that is not the point.

This is a great example of how people can easily be fooled by results that really do not amount to anything.

I have worked with offline businesses for almost 2 years now, long before any guru tried to capitalize on offline businesses. I know what SEO is and I get paid monthly to keep business ranked for highly competitive keywords.

Once again, I never said this was the next best thing, or that I am some type of SEO God here. Some people need to learn how to relax and not go all crazy on posts.

Some of us have been around a while too.

I think you should take your own advice and have a chill pill.

You still haven't made it clear what your intent was with your OP.

It 'looks' like you're claiming some fantastic result - because you title links, results, proof and short timescale.

You know it's meaningless - so maybe the response you're getting is the natural reaction to the way you communicated?

Blaming us for not understanding your meaning isn't exactly helping.

LOL. I just realized that the the optimization was a failure. You have to drop the word book in order in order to rank. So anyone actually looking for your book won't even find you.

Apparently bruce Willis ranks as well for the term without even trying. Die hard comes in number four. LOL. this thread is hilarious.

The posts in here are pretty harsh but I have to agree. If you made the thread title something like "Hey I got to position #1 for the title of my book, here's how" it'd be one thing, but you made a thread title like you're ranking #1 for cash advance. The plug didn't really help your situation either...

    lol this thread is funny.

This is simply an EMD ranking for a 0 competition phrase, nothing else. The "competition" number is pointless in this case as you can tell from the completely random first page results. Also someone else pointed out the real competition is only about 34 pages.

      #1 Google - 134 Million Competition - 5 Days - Proof
I held the #1 and #2 spots out of 134,000,000 competing sites.
Not sure how one could use this errant terminology and claim to be an offline SEO authority in the same breath?

What was the point of this post again?

If it was just for info purposes only - other than either pimping your book / services or sig links ... what was it cuz Im baffled by the point of it?

It happens because your domain name contains the exact keyword and there are very little (if any) competition.

I have a few examples which I will not show unless requested.
