Best Way to get from #7 to #1

I put up a WP blog/site with the SEO and XML sitemap plugin and it ranked very quickly on Google in the #7,8 spot. Currently it's at 8, and if I put the phrase in quotes it shows the competition at just under 6000. What are some of the best ways to get this to rank at #1 as fast as possible? It gets searched a fair amount (nothing compared to what I guess most of you are used to) and I'm just gathering leads off the site.

    Keep adding content and building back links. Also, do not be surprised if your site is de-indexed and re-indexed a couple of weeks later. It does not always happen, but does happen to new sites that rank quickly.

    The best thing for you to do at this point is start building a link portfolio for your site. I'd suggest doing a 4-5 spoke linkwheel, directory submissions, and some blog/forum posting. Make sure you don't overdo it though - keep a consistent month-to-month effort in place.

    Also, be sure to add fresh content to the site at least twice a week if possible. Google loves loves loves fresh content and will reward you for it.
