Removing links to Youtube to preserve page rank?

Hey All,

In a free video on Jeff Johnson's Traffic Voodoo website, he talks about building a blog/link network and linking to a youtube video of his from another of his sites with high page rank. He did this to advertise a launch, and says that his youtube video ranked highly immediately.

He then says that he subsequently removed the link to youtube to preserve page rank, but he doesn't explain anymore. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Thanks.

Maybe he had too many links on his site already and didn't want it to look like a link farm?

I don't know actually, I do know Google likes to see at least a couple of OBL's on your site, they don't like a "dead end."

I would think that Google would like to see links to youtube.

Ask Jeff, he has a blog, comment there and see what he says.
