Like everyone else I have my strong points and weak points. I can build wordpress blogs, write articles, comment on blogs, do forum and all sorts of other stuff but when it comes to keyword research I'm stumped.

Here's my strategy

less than 10,000 in quotes competition
low on page optimisation
buying keyword
At minimum 3 sites in top 10 with less than 50 backlinks.
No or only a few top level domains.
No or only a few authority sites.

Is this criteria too rigid. My problem lies in me not being able to find any keyword phrases that fit this criteria. I can search for hours and hours over many niches and find nothing.

I have keyword elite as my keyword research tool. Are there any tips anybody can recommend to help me find keywords a little bit faster.

Any help would be much appreciated.
#keyword #keyword or #niche #research #seo

It's impossible to advise without knowing what you are trying to do. Keyword research for what? It sounds like you are looking for niche keywords, but what do you do with them then? They are no use to you unless you have something relevant to sell.

I also have same issues but now seem to swaying to the fact the competition is a good thing chose your converting keywords (i use market samurai, traffic travis) make sure they get over a 100 hits a day and competition is not exccessive under 30,000 and then use a good back link method to promote

For keyword research... There are two things you should keep an eye on... wordtracker and google trends..

If someone add to these two things.. Highly appreciated..

I am a fan of Market Samurai as there is only a one time charge.

I do think your criteria are too rigid Darren.

I'd go for less than 30,000 competition (or 50,000 if it's a niche that you love and are willing to give more than a month tryout).

As to the other criteria you mention, you could take a look at some of the Market Samurai training videos, which are all free and I think all on Youtube. If you look at the videos about the SEO Competition section of Market Samurai you'll get a feel for what's recommended.

I agree with Begbie that Market Samurai is a great tool for the job. If you take a free trial then you get to keep the keyword research section of the tool for ever, whether you buy it or not. And you could use the SEO Competition section of the tool before your free trial ends.

If you want to find out more you could take a look at my blog (see my sig).

    I hope this helps.
