hi,
first let me say thank you to all of the warriors out there who so selflessly help others.

I started a website on 6/15.
site is made and maintained with dreamweaver. i am a novice at dreamweaver as well.

Right now the only monetization i have is adsense and amazon.
the questions i have are:
1. what is the most effective adsense add? I have adsense text only adds placed in the right sidebar above the fold. Is this correct or should i change them?

2. What is the most effective way to use amazon links? i have a few text links in the written content and above the fold. i know i should do more but i do not want my site to be cheesey so i am concerned about making my site spammy.

3. what other types on monetization should i be looking at? Currently i actually sell no products just give info and hope people click my links.

4. what is the most effective way to increase ctr? I am averaging 40 -60 visitors a day and i only have one click through.

thanks for your help in advance. i will post any questions that i come up with and hopefully with a little help and a little time i will be the one helping others.

1.If you are focusing on Adsense Revenue, You must kept your sites simplicity in order to increase the CTR. Adsense ad placement's heat map might help you. Try to search the "adsense ads placement heat map" in Google.

    2. Amazon product review is the most effective to convert the Amazon sales.

    3. You should consider promoting affiliate products to give you income a boost.

    4. Following the heat map ad placement will help. Try to blend your ads into your webpage by optimizing its ads colors, text, size combination.

        Hi, Showehater

In Adsense, It's all about testing, analyzing & then optimizing the results. Different niches might have different factors that affecting your Adsense revenue.

          yeah,
i just checked out the heat map you recommended. That was an eye opener. who knew the bast place to put the ad is smack dab in the middle of the page.

          does that work for you?
do you place the add in the in between two paragraphs?
i will start an experiment today.
i will put adsense ads in a few different places. if your interested i will post the results in a few days.

          thanks again

Agreed. Adsense is all about testing and hoping to find the sweet spot. It can get pretty ridiculous sometimes. I've moved my adsense around so much that when I finally hit the "sweet spot" I do quite well.

When it comes to Amazon, I've also found that reviewing products is a great way to move the needle with them.

mainstreetcm: thank you very much for you advice.

all of my amazon adds are placed on product review pages, but i put them in the text. do you think some picture adds at the bottom of the review pages is a better option or would you use both?

The niche also plays a l large part in CTR - If people are on the verge of buying they are more likley to click, hence 'buying keywords' help a lot. I use one large rectangle above the fold and my best sites have an average CTR of between 20-40%, my worst 7-8%. Each day my avg CTR hovers around 20% I would stick with text ads personally, I has no success wrapping test around ads either. Hope that helps
