Where does google analytics code go?

Probably a dumb question, but where do I put the google analytics code in a Wordpress blog?

The instructions on google say to put it on EVERY page. Isn't there a way to edit the template so I only have to add the code once?

Thanks!

you can either add it to the footer.php file, or get a plugin for it.

oh - and you can edit the template files from within the wordpress dashboard (assuming you are running your own install on your own domain- I do not know about wordpress.com hosted sites)

To get google analytics on every page, just copy and paste the code into a text box on a side bar(you will have to put the text box into the sidebar first through your 'widgets').

Put it in your header file, that way it appears on every single page. I place all of mine there and have done for years with no problems.

If you are using word-press than you have to install the analytics plug-in and paste the code over there. I was having the same problem and resolved this in this manner only.

Do you have to paste code even if your using the plugin?

Ive just installed the plugin "Google analytics for Wordpress", then authenticated. It didn't mention about pasting code.
