Auto Blogging?

Is Auto Blogging any good for SEO. I heard installing a WP blog on your site is good SEO practice. But how about an Auto blogging system? Any thoughts good or bad appreciated.

  • Auto blogging on your site will not bring you any dividends, since you will get a duplicate content (for which you can even get penalized).
    AB is only profitable in large-scale (100+ autoblogs) for those people who sell links on them.

    • Well said friend. Yeah, its true - if you are working for some link building services you can create hundreds of blogs and use autoblogging. The only benefit is you can sell links and earn from that - the buyer literally gets nothing.

      Last time I checked Google even include autoblogs in their News results so what you say is not correct at all.

  • Thank you. All auto-blogging does, is put a bunch of extra, usually disjointed and obviously recycled garbage online. There is a chance it could help you get found short term because it can give you hundreds of pages pointing back to your home page in a short time. But any gains will be short lived. You will be dropped as google realizes the majority of everything on your site is duplicate content. And that won't take long.

    And, it isn't going to build you any credibility in the market place either because anyone reading it is going to know it is all recycled.

      Duplicate content is not the problem.
      If you present the content in a valuable way to a visitor,
      no problem.

      There are a lot of people who seem to be successful at autoblogging.
      There are people who have been banned.

      Choose wisely.

      I choose to stay away from any auto. But, it has nothing to do with
      duplicate content.

  • Autoblogging can be done effectively if done correctly. There are many threads on the issue in this forum. I have several autoblogs that make money. Mike Johnson just released a product that shows how to do it well. See my review of the latest product below.

      Listen, autoblogging is not just churning out duplicate content. And even when it is, the content nearly always gets indexed.

      Google does not dislike duplicate content. It's not depreciated. Duplicate content is everywhere.

      Think how miserable the internet would be if original content never left the original source, if it never went viral, if it never was repackaged and redistributed around countless channels maximizing it's exposure in the smallest amount of time.

      One of my favorite ways of autoblogging is to have a main blog I post to, and have many other blogs that source material from my main blog. A blog post for me will typically be indexed by 3 different locations, and at the same time serve 3 different types of reader groups.
  • I've never had problems with autoblogs.. but they aren't "scraper sites", so they don't look/read like garbage.

  • What do ya'll think about Google.com/news. They are essentially an auto posting news site. I guess since they are not posting the entire post, just a short description its not too bad. I'm not promoting it, I was just curious what ya'll think.
  • I have one (real) site in Google.News. The only value of it is that the new content gets indexed within 2 minutes.
    Also the internal links on the news pages get followed by bot almost immediately. So the site indexation is very good.
  • It's amazing how everyone's thoughts on duplicate content is so different. Some people say that it's the devil and some people say that it doesn't matter. Who knows???

    • Its just due to no one knows the algo internals, and everyone subjective experience is different. So people draw different conclusions.
      This is a normal situation in any black-box system, where an empirical data is the only source of information.
  • Using duplicate content is okay if it brings value to your site readers. End of.
  • I wrote some fresh articles at first, when those posts were indexed well by google i started using auto blogging to add content to my blog frequently and hide all the auto blogged content from my blog.

    • Auto blogging can be worth in many ways and also there is no problem in doing, but still I believe, that blogging should be done manually with a content that appears to be natural and unique.

  • There is no debate on duplicate content... It has been take out of context. Duplicate content means duplicate content on YOUR WEBSITE. So if you take an article from ezine articles and paste in word-for-word on your site, that IS NOT DUPLICATE CONTENT. If however you have a site running Wordpress and, for example, have a post that is under two categories i.e.

    Example 1:
    -site.com/category1/article001
    -site.com/category2/article001

    Example 2:
    -www.example.com
    -example.com/
    -www.example.com/index.html

    Then this is duplicate content and thus subject you to the "duplicate content penalty" because it is duplicate content on your own site. That's why Google recognizes url canonicalization: SEO advice: url canonicalization

    Its also why most wordpress SEO plugins allow you to add rel=noindex to your tag and archive pages... so you wont have multiple indexed URLS with the same content.
