Google Caffeine is an "under the hood" development in the Google search engine algorithm that will augment (slightly) how sites rank on Google's search engine results pages (SERP). The addition of Google Caffeine means that your current website search engine optimization (SEO) may become less effective and you may lose or gain position in search engine results for certain keywords. Google Caffeine is not yet integrated into the standard algorithm, but you can observe where your website and other websites stand in 'Caffeine-induced' results by visiting the Google Caffeine test site, http://www2.sandbox.google.com/

Seriously dude it has been up and running for quite awhile now. Odd that someone in the SEO business would not know that.

Google announced the deployment of a new search architecture codenamed "Caffeine" The new architecture is designed to return results more quickly and with much better information constantly updated services such as Facebook and Twitter. Google developers noted that most users will notice little immediate change, but it has invited developers to test the new research in his sandbox. Differences in their impact on search engine optimization includes keyword heavy weighting and importance of the age of the domain. This decision was interpreted in some quarters as a response to the recent release of an upgraded version of Microsoft's own search service, renamed the Bing.

Content owners will reap the benefits of Caffeine without doing anything at all. In fact, there's really not much, if anything content owners can do. Some may wonder if this change means that existing best practices around crawl efficiency matter more than before. Is page speed, which Google has focused on more lately, more important? Nope. Google told me that this change doesn't make any of the crawling, indexing, or ranking factors more or less important than before. It simply makes crawled content available in search results more quickly before and paves the way for added flexibility in taking advantage of the whatever may come as the web evolves. ( Google’s New Indexing Infrastructure “Caffeine” Now Live )

This means, the serps of current sites will not change much.

Caffeine is not a ranking algorithm update. It does not change the way Google ranks web pages. Caffeine just means that new pages will be shown much quicker on Google's result pages.

Google recruited thousands more employees so they could manually edit the top results in competitive niches and for competitive keywords. They feed them lots of coffee hence why it is called Google caffiene.

Google caffeine is Google's updated system of website to decide how to classify them in their search engine. Although some have referred to it as their new search engine is an improvement over existing ones. Users will not notice significant differences in physics, but there will be variations in the results and how the results are presented.

"Today, we're announcing the completion of a new web indexing system called Caffeine. Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it's the largest collection of web content we've offered. Whether it's a news story, a blog or a forum post, you can now find links to relevant content much sooner after it is published than was possible ever before.

Some background for those of you who don't build search engines for a living like us: when you search Google, you're not searching the live web. Instead you're searching Google's index of the web which, like the list in the back of a book, helps you pinpoint exactly the information you need. (Here's a good explanation of how it all works.)

So why did we build a new search indexing system? Content on the web is blossoming. It's growing not just in size and numbers but with the advent of video, images, news and real-time updates, the average webpage is richer and more complex. In addition, people's expectations for search are higher than they used to be. Searchers want to find the latest relevant content and publishers expect to be found the instant they publish.

To keep up with the evolution of the web and to meet rising user expectations, we've built Caffeine."

To keep up with the evolution of the web and to meet rising user expectations, we've built Caffeine. The image below illustrates how our old indexing system worked compared to Caffeine

Our old index had several layers, some of which were refreshed at a faster rate than others; the main layer would update every couple of weeks. To refresh a layer of the old index, we would analyze the entire web, which meant there was a significant delay between when we found a page and made it available to you.

With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions and update our search index on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index. That means you can find fresher information than ever before--no matter when or where it was published.

Caffeine lets us index web pages on an enormous scale. In fact, every second Caffeine processes hundreds of thousands of pages in parallel. If this were a pile of paper it would grow three miles taller every second. Caffeine takes up nearly 100 million gigabytes of storage in one database and adds new information at a rate of hundreds of thousands of gigabytes per day. You would need 625,000 of the largest iPods to store that much information; if these were stacked end-to-end they would go for more than 40 miles.

We've built Caffeine with the future in mind. Not only is it fresher, it's a robust foundation that makes it possible for us to build an even faster and comprehensive search engine that scales with the growth of information online, and delivers even more relevant search results to you. So stay tuned, and look for more improvements in the months to come.

Google Gets information from a Web browser to copy, there is a way, with the questions of the user of the information provided. As a result of Google index system refers to Google such as caffeine, because there is an information Navigator, Google, says where and how to find specific information.

Caffeine is a bitter, white crystalline xanthine alkaloid that is a psychoactive stimulant drug. Caffeine was discovered by a German chemist, Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819. He coined the term kaffein, a chemical compound in coffee, which in English became caffeine.
