Adsense...Mortgage Ads & Placement

Ok well yes just signed up today, but have been a lurker. My question today is on adsense ads on a mortgage site. Let me give you some history...

Domain was parked for about a week and noticed its getting about 125-140 hits a day on the parked site. Had a mortgage template so put up some quick small content and adsense ads focusing on mortages. Noticed that this site alone is doing about $5-7 dollars a day (some more some less) so as we speak im rebuilding the template and got 10 unique articles on the mortgage industry (mortgage rates, first time home buyers etc) to add to the site.

The site running now has as follows (and stays the same on all pages)

Top left 250x250
Direct top 336x280
Bottom right 125x125

the new template has a lot more add space so as it stands now I have it designed as follows (based on template structure)

Main page top (2) 234x60
Bottom left 250x250
Left top has 6 120x120 (these are Cj affiliate ads NOT adsense)

The rest of the pages will have the same lay out and are as follows.
(2) 125x125 bottom and they criss cross with 2 other CJ affiliate banners
(1) 250x250 bottom left

As I read more im confused on the payment for these clicks based on the mortgage ads. Somestimes the click brings in $.75 to $2.00 each and sometimes jusy $.25 How and why does it change. I was under the impression it was static as in this add will pay $1.00 per click no matter what.

Im still learning this whole adsene thing and need like a newbies guide straight to the point on what the hell is going on LOL

Also to mention the NEW site has CJ affiliates as well for the mortgage/real estate industry and since its not live I can not tell you how they perform

What do I need to do/change to get the most out of my mortgage adsense.

Thank you and hope to become a long time member.

  • If you want to make money. One block one page... smack in the middle where they can not miss it. Make it look like links to content.

    That's it.

More ad blocks will make LESS Money.

Ok so when you say more ad blocks will make less money, is this due to something Google controls as in impressions? This is the part that confuses me. Is less better as far as payout? Or the more you have the less the clicks count for?

I am now using on most websites 1 ad block and didn't notice any increase in clicks value. I used to have 2 ad blocks earlier. I recommend to have no more than 2 ad blocks.

The first ads to show on the site generally pay the most. As you show more ads, Google must pull from deeper in their collection. The deeper you go, the less the advertiser was willing to pay.

The first ads do not necessarily pay more. They are the
best performing. That does not mean the best paying.
Sometimes the best paying ads are on the bottom, sometimes
on top. They will list the ad that has the best rating. That in
no way, shape, or form means the best paying.

The more ads, the more chance of a click. That's my take.
But only my opinion. If you want to see a good way,
check out school-grants.org (not my site) At first I was
a non-believer, but have since changed everything I own to
        that layout.

But I can't argue with anyone on placement. You need to
        experiment yourself.

Ok hahahaha I understand all points but one questions kinda is still out there...the payoff per click.

Is the rate that I get paid per click based on the # of adsene ads? Take a look below for an example..

The site has 3 adsense ads. 2 (234x60) and 1 (250x250). Now if a visitor comes and clicks on one of the lnks from the adsense ad (no matter the size) lets say it paid me $1.00

If I were to remove the 250x250 ad AND just now have 2 adsense ads (234x60) would that same click still paid $1 or would it have paid more/less?

This is my question to redesign my site as the # of adsense ads and how it pays into the payments of clicks

      1. Which means that the first ads will generate more income based on the CTR and CPC. Those ads gnerate the most income for Google, and thus the most for the web site. So they may not pay more per click, but they elicit more clicks. So you are going to end up with more cash.

      2. So what information dod you have that this school grant site is doing so well with their AdSense. I have seen people refer to them previously but have never seen any data to say why I should emulate them. You tell us that you are, so what kind of results have you seen in your sites?

Google has the payout rate, but I don't have the URL. It is 68% of revenue for The Content Network, and I think it was 58%+/- for their search network. This is based on what the advertiser pays, which can vary dramaticly from the published rates.

The more ads you put on your page, the more of the lower cost/performing ads the visitor will get to choose from. The more choices people have, the more they get confused and tend not to make a decision in many cases. If you have learned anything about marketing, you should have learned that you lead your prospect down a path and then end up with only one choice for them. If they have two choices to make, that always give them the third option of not making a choice. The fewer choices the better.

I had a similar site and was interested.
Someone here pointed out that this site sold for $80,000,
www.school-grants.org - Website for Sale: 2y old education PR4 with $4000 monthly profit

I too had fallen for the less is more thought on adsense. I too have seen an
increase since changing. Another good look is ezinearticles. They max
        them out as well.

Point taken on the more cash for more clicks, but here's the thing.
Anywhere an adsense ad is, is a chance for a click, then the more
adsense, the more chance at clicks.

Just beware of one little aspect of adsense that many people forget,
and that layout doesn't. You need content to be above the fold.
I've seen many with a similar site, but put an adsense block on top
of the article instead of floating to the right. That would be breaking
adsense TOS. Many people don't know this above the fold rule and
get their adsense banned, seemingly for no reason.

Keep in mind all sites are different.

Don't put it in the middle.. and try to limited the ads as much as possible. 2ads block is enough and I think top right or middle right works well. Good luck
