Man, I knew times were bad but when you see the hamburglar asking
questions in an IM forum you have to realize things aren't getting any better
in the world. Mickie D's is even loosing it's affiliates...

Anyway, Backlinking isn't always an issue depending on the niches you're in.

Most of my business relies on setting up sites for others and the word of
mouth advertising from clients saves me the hassle.

Treat people right and 99.9% of the time (if you use good judgement) they
will treat you right in return.

Sorry, That's all I've got to offer you in this post but for some reason I felt
like I had to say it.

    Hope it helps,
    Have a Great Day!
    Michael

    PS. Disclaimer:
The percentages stated above may vary depending on location and many other factors.
Not to mention the fact that I made up the 99.9% thing.

In my opinion, outsource as much back linking as you can and put your time and effort towards product creation or other traffic generation methods. Easier said than done.

It's easy, but it cost money.

There is some backlinking that can be done really easily and quickly, that I would always do myself, but with a lot of sites, outsourcing has to be the way 2 go.

If you have the money outsource. But if you are building up to it, then just put in 1-2 hours a day. Any more will probably make you crazy..

An hour each day does add up. Do it first thing and get it out of the way so that you can get on with the more interesting stuff.

Baclink Building is the most important task but it is too boring for me. I have a group of people to build backlinks for me and for my clients. So, I don't spend time on building links. It cost money but if we can invest some amount from profit for a good outcome.

    Regards,
    Chandan

I spend two hours a day writing articles that I submit to five different article directories. I can usually get close to 10 articles written in that time around 400 words.

If you can push yourself to write your own articles then backlinking isn't too bad.

You might get a more thorough response to your question over on the SEO forum, as a high percentage of folks here in the main forum don't seem to do much SEO/SERP stuff.

For me, about 12 hours a day But then again, backlinks is my main business. I'm either building them, managing outsourcers building them, programing automation tools to build them for me, scraping them, checking if they are indexed, checking on backlinks of my own sites, checking on the backlinks of my competition, etc.

Outsourcing is the way to go indeed. Backlinking and doing it all by yourself could be tedious and time consuming on a day to day basis so if you would like help about this, I can give you a hand as well.

I agree with the outsourcing. It is the most time consuming aspect of my buisness and the guy I hired is great and gets much more done in a week than I would in a month. There are reasonable sources for outsourcing so it doesn't need to be a hug expense.

I have tried outsourcing but the quality is very poor. So I have resorted to managing/tracking backlinks myself.

I guess outsourcing would be good if you are not directly buying backlinks from other people.

The quality of backlinks from individual outsourcers or services is going to vary widely. It really depends on their experience and what you're asking them to do. Usually a 'you get what you pay for' scenario.

Outsourcing seems to be the way to go if you have plenty of money to throw around otherwise its back to the basics. Maybe concentrating on one site at a time until you are making some money. Then move onto the next.
