Hey everyone,
This is actually a post I wrote on my blog but I wanted to share it here with you guys.

Making money online can be summed up in two words.. traffic x conversion = $$. You absolutely must have both of these in order to make money. With that being said a overwhelming majority of people are missing part 1 of 2 which is traffic. Hence why a huge chunk of people are NOT making any money online.

Why are a majority of people missing part 1 of 2 (traffic) Irnes?
I am a firm believer that a lot of people, especially newbies, are looking at traffic the wrong way. They assume and WANT traffic to be on autopilot. Let’s get realistic for a second here..A lot of people think making money online is easy and a part of that easiness is to simply rank on page 1 on google, get a boatload of traffic and never have to work again…
Now don’t get me wrong, I also think search engines are a great way to generate traffic but I see that SEO should be a supplement to your business but not the business it self (unless your a SEO company!). Instead of spending months spamming forum profiles and blogs..why dont you spend that time writing A++ quality content and putting it out there in your niche? The best way to reach your niche is to get involved directly in the community of the niche!

One way I highly recommend you do this is to guest blog on popular sites within your niche and here’s why:
1) You will build authority status in your niche
2)You will get instant traffic back to your site
3)In addition to this all you will get a high quality backlink from the popular site.

Take your posts, guest blogs ,etc and mass distribute them around the internet and of course with a link back to your site for even more exposure.

Take your content and convert it to PDF format then you can submit it to ebook directories. You can even convert it into video and put it all the top video sites. These are a few basic examples but I think you get the idea. Just try to submit to places that have a section for your given niche.
The point here is stop relying on google to bring people to you and go out there and grab them yourself.

I fully agree. Not many people are going out and grabbing traffic like you said. It seems like a lot of people who start out get hung up on SEO, burn out and then complain how they don't make any money online.

The best part was when I said:

"Now don’t get me wrong, I also think search engines are a great way to generate traffic but I see that SEO should be a supplement to your business but not the business it self".

I simply wanted to point out there are other routes to traffic OTHER then SEO that can be just as effective if not more. At no point did I say SEO was useless. I see far too many people only work on SEO for a long period of time and never actually make any decent money.

My signature is proof that I don't hate SEO.

I think alot of people start with SEO because there are little costs involved (except their time). That's a fine plan. The big mistake in not reinvesting their profits and trying to outsource such tasks as quickly as possible.
