I tried SEnuke but could never get it to work properly, if it did it would be awesome. I'd have to agree that social maximizer works the best.

I don't even try SB sites anymore. StumbleUpon is probably the best and if you have anything of interest - Digg could help you (especially if it is a left-leaning website).

The object of SB sites is to get people of similar interest - and this is where you promote your site.

The more people that spam social bookmarking sites, the more that they're converting to nofollow rather than dofollow. Building up a ton of links via social bookmarking is probably long-term going to be a waste of time because as the nofollow structure is adopted, the link is lost as far as PageRank is concerned.

Work on getting links that are dofollow and likely to be more permanent... such as article submissions or getting blogs to write about your web site because you have something cool to offer.

HunterSnake's right. Unless you're trying to build up a social media presence, I wouldn't bother for the sake of only SERPs. Don't use auto-submission stuff, either.

Social media can definitely be very powerful and should be exploited to the fullest ethical and honest extent possible. The days of spamming for links that help one's PageRank are, however, I believe coming to an end because of the increasing adoption of rel="nofollow".

Cant you just take advantage of the RSS feeds most social bookmarking sites to ensure you get a dofollow link even if the site is nofollow?

Yes, I think RSS feeds are a good way to get noticed by the search engines without the risk of falling into the spam category.

If you write a page or blogpost you only need a few postings to social bookmark sites just to get noticed. I really don't think this idea of mass posting to say 200-300 SB sites is necessary.

And as Hunter Snake said above, the increasing use of nofollow somewhat negates the whole exercise.

I do agree, a handful of SB sites will do just to get notice by SE. That works for me!
