Question about google and your site content

I have recently launched a site that has been indexed by google. I've written 5 keyword rich articles which are currently displayed on the front page as well as their own page and the articles category. When I search for one of these articles using keywords, my site is around the 3rd-5th result however google is pulling the description from my homepage and linking to my homepage instead of the article page.

For example, the keyword is "classic golf swing". I have an article on my site which can be found at mysite[dot]com/classic-golf-swing. Because it is a new article, it is also displayed on the front page. Google links to and pulls the data from the front page instead of the article's stand alone page.

Why would this be? Is this because the article page has not yet been indexed? I'm kind of lost.

Many thanks.

Are you displaying the entire article on the front page or just a link and a snippet?

It's just a link and a 1 sentence snippit. The front page is automatically updated whenever I post a new "post" in wordpress.

Apriory, Google values mainpage higher than inner pages. It might revert very soon when your inner page gets few quality backlinks with anchors like "classic golf swing".
