Is this happening to everyone?

All my sites seem to be getting de-indexed by Google one by one. It generally last a few days to a week before they return to their old position.

Just wondering if this is happening to everyone. It seems like Google has a human going through my sites to make sure they are not just fluff sites.

The indexation has been fluctuating wildly of late.

In the past 3.5 weeks I've been keeping tabs on it, and my indexation has gone from 1680 pages to 7840 (it's done it in jumps of a few hundred to a few thousand).

I've noticed pages with little content (stub pages) or content that is somewhat duplicated are being dropped.

If your sites are lacking content anywhere, or use a lot of duplicate content that could be an issue. Especially if its a niche-site-builder type site designed to pull in adsense bucks.

That is the weird thing. It will get dropped for just a little bit but then it is right back to where it was.

My sites are relatively small (10 or so pages). But they have genuine content. How-Tos, Guides, Tips, Recipes and Such. Very informative stuff.

While they are adsense focused, I use my past teacher experience to fuel them. Therefore, it is not duplicate content. It is really what I did in the classroom and products that I really used.

Welcome to the world of caffeine! I imagine Google is re-indexing everything using the new algorithm.

That is what I figured. It is just very very odd.

If a human is going through your sites to decide if they are 'fluff' or not, I would not think that is the reason you got deindexed unless your sites ARE 'fluff'. AKA spam? In that case they are right to remove them, who wants to come up with spam when they search for useful content.

If you know your sites are authentic and not just spun'n scraped stuff, then that is probably not the reason they got deindexed. I could not say why if I never saw the site itself though. Maybe we could look and see if you give us a link to check?

I had two of my sites do this but they came back together after a couple of days. Howver, one of my sites has had this problem since last Sunday! I have no idea what the issue is, but it is very frustrating!

You're not being "deindexed." You're experiencing the ever-more-frequent Google "Dance." Caffeine is clearly causing Google's system to re-evaluate sites on a much more frequent basis now. So I think the days of somewhat permanent rankings are gone. Things will fluctuate now as the rule, with steadiness as the exception.

I seriously doubt that a human being is checking out your sites. It's much more likely that their system is "re-jiggering" more often as it takes new content into consideration. They don't call it "Caffeine" for nothing. It's like this new Google can't sit still.

My guess is that it's also due to Google Caffeine's effects. Google's still in the process of tweaking caffeine and making it better. We're experiencing it's upsides and downsides real-time. Don't make it too much of a big deal - I'm sure Google will fix it. As long as you're sure you're not doing anything to piss them off, you'll be fine.

A lot of changes happen around the web. When other people's sites or backlink profiles change, your position will change too. Also Google frequently changes their algorithm (some SEOs estimate more than twice a day), which will sometimes affect your sites ranking.
