Double Listing in the SERPS and Outranking

I have been curious about this a while now but say if you have an article at Ezinearticles that is ranking in Google but there is another article at Ezinearticles that is outranking you. Is it possible to outrank that article so instead of your article being the second double listing, yours will be the first one. I just haven't heard anyone stating that they have outranked another article or web 2.0 site from the same site on first page results.

Right now I am #2 double listing for one of my EA articles but I don't know if it is worth it to try to outrank the other article at #1 since it is older. I have more backlinks and they are pretty strong so I am clueless.

Don't want to disclose the keyword as of yet. Just really wanting to know if anyone has ever took over a double listing or if it is something hard to do.

That is a good idea but I wouldn't use EZA but another article directory to diversify a bit. But before I go ahead I want to know if it is hard or possible

Sure, it happens all the time.

First some basics Assuming that one is looking at Google through the standard 10 results per page format, if a page on Domain A is ranked #1, as soon as another page on domain A gets to spot #10 or higher, it takes a ride in the Google elevator up to #2, as an indented listed behind the first page on that domain.

Now, the problem in this instance, is you don't really know if your site is really (power-wise) #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10. If your EZA article should be in any of those spots then that gives you the #2 spot.

I would think that the a #2 indented listing for a second article on an article directory would get less traffic than a #2 listing if it was a different domain, so that is one thing to consider in all of this too. But, at the end of the day, it comes down to how much traffic you are getting and how much work you think would take to unseat the #1. It may or may not be worth it, but it certainly can be done.
