As far as link building goes, you have a number of good choices depending on your level of involvement.

Basically, the only thing that really matters is...

      1. The PR of the Site you link from
      2. The anchor text
      3. The surrounding text

That said, I recommend either a service like SEO linkvine or SENuke. They use pretty much article marketing on crack by submitting spun articles to hundreds of high PR websites on autopilot.

This gives you an incredible boost in your SEO rankings.

There are even services you can outsource to in order to get backlinks built for you, which is even better. I get 350 a month on autopilot to whatever URL's I want.

Makes backlink building a LOT easier...

Wow, that sounds absolutely great, the information you gave here is really very useful and i thanks you for that as i was looking for something like that. I have a few blogs and was planning to get SEO done for them. I am a freelance writer and trying to learn SEO but I guess it would take a long time. I will try the services you mentioned here.

Diversity. Diversity is the most important. You will get more traffic from the search engines if you do each of them rather then if you concentrait on one.

If you've got nothing but directory links then that might look a little shady, it probably won't harm you, but it won't help as much. But if you have a mixture of links it makes your site look more like an authority.

Article submission to websites, guest posting, social bookmarking, commenting on other blogs, forums etc gets great amount of backlinks to a website. I have personally tried all these methods and now I am getting huge traffic.

Out of curiosity, have you ever had a site penalized because of only 1 type of link? Just wondering since we've all heard that a million times (I definitely follow it) but I don't think I've ever seen an example.

Why do you want to give google control of your business? you like whining about how they hate affiliates because they make a change.

article marketing is the best way, to do this, but in my opinion yyou should never rely on any one source of traffic for more than 30% of your visitors. any more than that, and we will see you here complaining about google every time they change their algorithm and you lose your rankings.

Besides, one thing that they are looking more into is ranking sites that have a social presence. you cant do that and ignore the traffic that a social presence will give you.

True. social bookmarking your articles gives them more power. i have to disagree with the article writing having to be an expert. do you think freelance writers are experts on everything they write about? I know im not. and I dont' pretend to be one on any of my sites. One lie that many fake gurus teach is that you have to be an expert to build authority. i have never tried to position myself as an expert. In fact I point blank tell people, I am no expert on this, but this is my opinion and why I have it. now if you want a real expert i recommend [insert product here].

this approach has worked for me, although many people disagree with me on how effective it is.

I definitely agree with InternetMarketingIQ. Each tool must be used in its own way.

If at all possible, try to get links which add to traffic and build relationships rather than just provide SEO help. Think about who your audience is and where they spend their time. Then try to build links around those sites / places.

best ways to put ur links out there is just using things like blogs, facebook, twitter. it will get the name out and people might visit ur site from there. so it will also bring traffic and u can build back links which will definitely influence ur rank in google which ultimately brings more traffic. its all linked to one another

InternetMarketingIQ you hit the nail on the head there. understand the medium you use is not as important as the way you approach the customer. most of the tactics the big guys use to build their business are the same ones that have been used for hundreds of years. the technology changes , and the tools we use to apply them change, but the real meat of marketing is essentially the same.

True, it's definitely not rocket science. A bit of every technique works well. The thing not to forget is that Google has to see your backlinks as natural, meaning if you have 150 backlinks on monday and nothing the next 5 days, it will hurt your website.

Backlinks have to vary, to be from different IPs. Anchor text one-way backlinks are cool. I think it's also important to twist the anchor text a bit with related keywords.

.edu backlinks are pretty appreciated by google. You can comment on .edu blogs or create a profile and add your website to it.

        There are so many ways!

For sheer quantity of sustainable link building, you've got article distribution and forum profiles. Press releases, bookmarking and web 2.0 sites are good sources and also sustainable. Things like directory submissions are good, but something you'd generally do when you start a site as you won't get much traction submitting to directories multiple times.

I do not give special preference to specific one-way backlink building methods. If you want Google to "like" your site...just diversify your backlink building methods....I do article marketing, profile creating, forum marketing, social bookmarking etc almost every day...On and off, I do some press release to boost my site ranking....I won't stick with certain methods...

from my experience, write a few short articles and submit them to the article sites below, make sure the author bio has the link with anchor text.

    EzineArticles - PR6
    Suite101 - PR7
    ArticleDashboard - PR5
    Submit Your Article - PR4
    Helium - PR6
    GoArticles - PR4
    SearchWarp - PR5

After that social bookmark the article url and your site url. Then have a couple of post from wordpress and livejournal also link to these articles and your site.

That's all. This is really the basic of building back links. If your keywords are not competitive, you should have no problem getting on Google first page using this simple link building step. I've done it many times.

No, you won't get a site penalized if you only build 1 type of link. But you'll get more out of 250 forum posts, 250 article submissions, 250 directory submissions, and 250 blog comments then you will for 1000 article submissions.

Getting links from different domains and I.P. addresses is probably the main reason for this. Plus if Google ever starts to say devalue blog commenting it will only affect part of your backlinks.

I think that right now, the best link building method is to find a high pr site to link to you. by either buying it or trading for it.
#2 would be a high PR blog network to put your articles in such as SEO Nitro
#3 I would say would be profile linking to high pr sites
#4 would be blog networks such as Seo Linkvine, MAN, AMA, UAW
#5 and on would be everything else.

I confess that my understanding skates over the top of some of this. Things will surely change as I continue my self-education.

A thing that occurs to me, and it must be of partial relevance as traffic is Something to do with what we're talking about: There's a famous industrialist who's supposed to have said that 50% of his adverstising budget was wasted but he didn't know which 50%.

The art of this must be 'throwing everything at the website' and you'll do all right.

Article marketing works best for me. Sharing your links to your friends in social networking sites is good too like facebook, twitter, friendster, myspace, etc. Popular social bookmarking sites also deliver good results. Another effective method for me is guest posting in other sites with high traffic. Add also RSS feeds, forum posting, blog commenting in related niche and blog catalog. Blog catalog usually comes out in searches on google and I get traffic from them.
