If forums are on the first page, should it be relatively easy to rank high?

The keyword I'm going to try and rank for, gets 19,000 searches per month (exact)

There are 4 forums, and 2 yahoo answers within the first 20 results. I've always thought seeing forums ranked high was a good sign, but this seems to good to be true.

depends on how many links are built to the forum, and how long that forum has been ranking. if there are no back links, should be easy to knock them off.

yep, if there are no backlinks you can usually beat them out with a little seo. sometimes you hit those golden nuggets but be careful. sometimes there are reasons noone is targeting it.

are there adsense ads on search results? if noone is paying for ads on that page, it probably doesnt convert to sales, especially if it is well known niche.

occasionlly you will find a golden nugget. I have even found a few in the IM niche that convert really well and i have virtually no competition for them on ppc or seo. however, it took hours of research and work to find them.

      There's 3 adsense ads.

It's in the IM niche, but i've made the keyword relate to what I'm selling.

      Excited to try this out.

Think outside the box. many im people forget that most people looking to make money online dont know anything about it, so they are not searching for the same terminology that we use. I have leveraged this to find several golden nuggets.

the best thing to do with anything is test it yourself. i have had keywords that everyone said, logic said, and analysis all said to run a way noone will buy. yet I targeted them got ranking and make sales almost daily from it. sometimes you have to blow away logic, reasoning and everyone else, follow your gut and test something new.
