So I finally got listed in DMOZ! - Should I build some backlinks for the category I am listed in, will this help with the weight of the link from DMOZ to my site? Or would this be a complete waste of time and resources?

    Congratulations! =)

In regards to building links to the category, don't waste your time. DMOZ has been around plenty long. Do ping the category, however, to expedite an update in search engines so that your link is more quickly recognized.

Even if my category is PR 0 / n/a?

I know I will still get great value from it, but would the value be better if that specific category was of a higher PR?

Don't worry about PageRank. This is a very common SEO mistake... being overly obsessed about PageRank. Google keeps trying to get people to quit caring about this so much but everyone still obsesses, regardless of what official statements Google makes concerning it.

The fact that it's from dmoz itself will be plenty. Additionally, being listed in DMOZ gets you like 50 other backlinks from sites that mirror it, including directory.google.com

I wouldn't worry about it either. Google knows about DMOZ already... :p

No need for building links for the category because dmoz have 8 PR home page. so think about the power of this directory.
