Ping directory submissions

What are ping type directory submissions? How useful are they in getting quick backlinks and boosting the seo?

Where can I find a list of these directories if they are any good?

  • Pinging is not really for direct backlinks. They are used to inform certain networks that you have updated your site. One of these is Google. Since their goal is to list every website on the Internet, they will like a ping so they can index your website.

    If you want a quick, free ping. Just go to pingler.com and input your URL. They already have a pinglist there. If you are using Wordpress and you want your blogposts to be automatically pinged when they are published, just copy the pinglist to the bottom portion of your 'Writing' settings. That simple.

  • confusion.. i was thinking of trying a service on fiverr which said directory submissions. and when i asked my whether these directories approve the submissions quickly, i got the following reply

    • I think the guy is merely applying the concept of 'ping' in the directories which means they instantly approve submissions without checking or verifying them.

  • airabongco is correct...pinging is not directory submissions but it's a service that is used to notify other sites that something is changed on your site.
