Hey Guys,

I am in the process of setting up a few news sites to submit my press releases to, to rank the press releases in Google news. Does anyone have any experience with this? How sound is this strategy and is there anything I need to be aware of when setting up these sites?

Cheers

We may be running into a language barrier here: what do you mean by "setting up" those sites? And what is it that you are trying to accomplish? It's hard to answer your query without understanding this first.

Haha sorry about that Philip, alright I was thinking about setting up (creating) news sites using news themes that i have in wordpress. I would setup my own news websites to pump PR back to my other money websites and also get added expossure in Google news.

News results seem to rank really highly for some time in google these days and that would be my motivation for doing it.

OK, thanks for clarifying. If I may comment, without sounding too much like a snob, it seems that you have a plan and are already "in the process" of implementing it, yet the fact that you do not describe what you are doing clearly suggests that you don't have a grasp of what it takes to describe a technical issue, so your scheme is doomed. The sites that you will set up will be new, with zero PR, so they will most likely be useless to you in terms of PR and a waste of your time. It's not a scheme that I recommend: it seems to me that your time and resources would be best spent on developing your real sites, not a fake network. It is much easier to create, improve and rank a single site than a whole bunch of sites. And if your sites are newbie sites with no or little value, you will have trouble with having them recognized as new sources by Google. I suggest you work on your main sites and invest in some power links for them to rank them reliably. If you want to rank press releases pertinent to your site, simply place them on authoritative press release and new sites, don't launch your own sites for that purpose.

Plus, if it sounds like a sales pitch, you will jeopardize your own gnews sites status.

There are three ways to get press releases syndicated in Google News as I understand it:

    1. Submit your PR to a PR site that syndicates to Google News. Example would be PRweb.com (paid) or PRlog.org (free).
    2. Establish a relationship with a news site which would get exclusivity on your press releases. In this case, you would have to establish some credibility but very feasible.
    3. Create your own news site, populate it with unique, newsworthy content and then submit it to Google News for acceptance. If the site meets Google New's TOS and quality standards, they could approve it as one of the other 25,000 sites or so that Google pulls from. This method is an almost guarantee that each PR u publish will hit the first page and stay there for hours or days. It is obviously the hardest to achieve as well.
