How I Dominate Any Niche in Two Simple Steps
- SEO |
Here is a simple process that I employ in all the niches I tackle.
1. Search for longtail keywords and analyze competition
I could not emphasize this enough. A lot of people think that they can tackle keywords with more traffic only to give up later when they found that they can't do it.
Well, I am not here to say that you can't do it. Some people can. But generally, targeting longtails is better.
Why? Well, (1) it allows you to target short tail and mid tail keywords in the process and (2) It is easier to dominate.
People can get results in as little as a week if backlinking is done rightly for the longtails. I know that we have even done it overnight for some keywords.
How I search for longtails:
1. I use the Google Suggestor tool so I can harvest actual keywords that people are typing on Google. You can download it by clicking through the link.
2. Then I get the buyer keywords and paste it in the Adwords Keyword tool to get the search count. Click on the link to visit Google's keyword tool.
3. After that, I go to SENuke and find out if the competition is easy to tackle. You can also do this manually by typing "allintitle:keyword" in Google. This will show you the number of sites you will compete with. The lesser the better. As a rule, I don't waste my time on keywords with more than 5000 results.
2. Formulate a Promotion Campaign
Of course, this will vary with your niche. I am sick and tired of people telling others that they only need to employ the same kind of promotion on their sites. That is just promotion without analyzing their target market and it is just a waste of time.
So I follow these rules. I hold an outsourcing firm so I have experience in a variety of niches.
1. If it is a news Site, I use press releases and high profile content syndication
2. If it is a resource site, I use social bookmarking and social promotions on Twitter and others. Link baits work well in these sites.
3. If it is an ecommerce site, I use article marketing to target long tail brand keywords to get small dripping traffic to the site.
4. If it is in the health niche, article marketing works as well. This can be mixed up with videos.
5. If it is in the travel niche, I use specific trip provider brands, locations and specific months and year for people looking for specific trips and promote it using article marketing.
6. If it is a blog, then guestposting and commenting works best because it allows you to participate in the little community you are in.
7. If it is in the IM niche, I use forum posting, JVs and list promotions.
NOTE: I use article marketing a lot because it allows me to post my desired anchor texts to target my longtail keywords.
So as you can see, there is no such thing as the best link building strategy. It will depend on your target market. The key is to find where these people are hanging out and promote to them.
If your niche is not listed above, then you should start analyzing your market and thinking about creative ways to promote to them.
So it is that simple. See how I tackled that in two steps. I do it quickly so I can focus more on building and less on analyzing.
Of course, it does not stop there.
It is very important that you remain consistent.
Consistency is the key.
Backlinking will take some time before you really see significant traffic but a few promotions here and there will help you reach your goal.
