Pr & age vs on-site and anchor text

I am looking to get into a niche where the competition is from authority domains but its their inner pages with a pr of 4. All the pr is mostly coming from the domain. I would have better on-site SEO, domain exact match, and better anchor text from links then they do.

Should I compete, or too hard even though some of the main SEO factors I can be better. How strong are their inner pages with domain age and rank? My guess is not as good as main page.

Also, consider if domain was keyword rich and not necessarily exact.

Thanks for the replies. New member and new IM'er and have learned alot from you guys and gals. Thanks,

Anything is possible. It depends on how much effort you are prepared to put into it. One of my websites is an "authority site" yet I often see much smaller websites beat me to number 1 on Google when they have very specific on-theme websites.

    So yes, go for it.

Spanisheye's response is as good as they get on this subject. It's simply impossible to make accurate predictions based on the info that you have provided. An exact match domain often goes a long way though, though it's no silver bullet either (and it chiefly helps you rank for one keyword, not for the whole niche).

Any SEO result is theoretically beatable with powerful links. If you have access to those, you certainly stand a solid fighting chance.
