My site--perfect domain keyword match--fails to come up #1 anymore for that keyword, it's mostly down the page again. It just keeps jumping around and ultimately failing to stay up there.

I'd keep on with my plan but I don't have one. I've tried everything. I can only work so hard and so long without any noticeable change or progress before I just give up.

And no..we haven't gone up for our other keyword, only gone down for our primary one.

I hate to be a whiner, but I've nowhere left to turn.

It's practically impossible to help unless you give us a lot more detail about your keyword(s) (strength of competition, how long you were ranking for, with how many backlinks), blabla, etc.

Basically, no-one can give you an answer since we have no idea what your keywords are, what work you've done to rank #1 in the past, what your competitors are doing, and what work you're doing (in terms of backlinking, etc) in an attempt to retake that position.

Sure--I will gladly provide answers to all that. Sorry I didn't up there.

Site is Warrior Cats RPG and keywords are: "warrior cats" and "Warrior cats rpg"

The second one is our best match and the one that we just tumbled down from for no apparent reason.

Strategy? Backlinks, and onsite SEO, backlinks of just about every type you could think of but mostly reciprocal links with closely related sites. That has always been our strategy for years. Just had constant problems since we moved.

Blogs themselves more than blog comments. I was able to get a couple to just link to me as relevant, but almost always, it has to be reciprocal. I have run out of resources here because I've exhausted the supply of related sites.

I tweet and have a facebook fan page. We have some youtube videos too. Some social bookmarks, ezine articles and a squidoo page. Forum sigs like this one too.

Thank you so much for offering to give me some advice.

I noticed your site is a PR 0 and your competition has very good PR, that probably has something to do with it. I've never been a big fan of reciprocal links, they aren't nearly as powerful as they use to be.

If it was me, I would get some one way backlinks from some quality sites/blogs with the correct anchor text in them. Also, I would submit it to a few quality directories.

      How???

Yes, I'm actually in tears over this right now. How do I do it? I don;t know what sites or where to go or how to GET them to link to me. Nobody wants to link to my crappy worthless site.

I submitted it to Dmoz and Yahoo many weeks ago, they never added me.

I have brought up my concerns about the pr 0 repeatedly here and people always tell me that it doesn't matter.
PR doesn't matter, but it's often an indication of how strong your links are.

Your links are no good. Find better links.

You don't have your keywords in your header.

Throw some outbound links to sites along the same genre/theme with proper anchor text.

Really, all you need are more backlinks with proper anchor text, and to fix your header. That's it.

Nothing's turned up for me and I run search after search. no authority sites related to mine. I've reached out to a few recently I found with PR 3 and 4, and a kids' literature blog with a 5, and gotten no responses. Where else do I go? I'm so stuck I could cry. In fact I have.

I'm worried that there is nothing worthwhile above the fold on the page, so when a user arrives, they don't see much, and don't delve deeper. You really need to examine your bounce rates, and see what you can do to catch and keep more of those visitors you are working so hard to get to your site.

And while I know gaming sites are notorious for doing this, I will guarantee you that using white text on colored background will increase your bounce rate as well. I think you problem is more at the site level.

Do not give much importance to relevance. Try to get more links from anywhere. One way Links must be always preferred.

    Hey Groovy Star,

I have did this before on a keyword rich domain and falling out of the rankings is quite normal because your competition is actively building backlinks. What I do here is write a press release and get it in Google News using the reverse PR method. First, you search your term on News.google.com, then you look for the PR sites that comes up and submit your PR to those. For some reason, when a PR links to your site and your site has a keyword-rich domain name, Google pulls up your site. And who knows? You may even get back to rank 1.

    Hope that helps.

I also see you #1 for 'warrior cats rpg'

It is a bit odd that you have no PR as you do have a few backlinks. According to Yahoo there are over 100K BLs.
I also see quite a few blogroll placements that are evidently link exchanges or purchased links.

I believe your PR is not there because the pattern was picked up via Google as being purchased links so the Big G stripped your PR from you. I'm not sure if that hurt your SERPs but it certainly doesn't help.

I think you may have to wait this one out and build natural links from writing articles, guest blogging, etc..

Just no more site wide links in regards to your SEO efforts or they will be discounted and not be applied towards your SEO efforts.
More is not always better and a single link from a quality site will go much further than site wide links in an exchange network imho.

Not really worth shedding tears over. You will drive yourself insane trying to figure out Google so just keep looking forward and perhaps search for other types of traffic avenues to compensate.

    Good Luck!
    Ken

I suggested you not to give much importance to relevant links because irrelevant links have worked for me.

Reduce your page load time. It really matters.

Users that have slow machines like me can not stay at your site. Your site eats a lot of resources. You must also work on it.

OK, one quality backlink tip and don't tell anyone here.
Go to the G4TV forums and join.
    G4tv.com Forums

Become active for a little bit and honestly contribute for a week or so. Then gently and cunningly bring up this wonderful Warrior Cats RPG website that you have found. Do not let anyone know you own it so use care in what you say. Do not blatantly spam or they will remove the url and ban you.

You will definitely see something from a link from there if they leave it.
And only do this once. Do not keep talking about it after you have your link there.
You can add an image from your site that will also give you recognition even if it isn't a link but just an image hosted on your site.

Please forget what I said about Google. Water under the bridge is not worth trying to catch nor fretting over.

Remember, be cunning and do not get greedy nor openly spam.
Draw the interest first or find a similar post and discuss the subject and ask about the Warrior Cats RPG site.

Keep your chin up....many would kill for front page listings.

I will try to forget what you said about google hating my site but it is hard. I don't think I will be able to. I am not angry at you, I am angry at myself for trying everything I could and failing. But that is my life. I have failed everything I have ever tried.

I do not know how to cut down the resources, I have tried that too.
Having crap links are not bad, they're just not too beneficial.

Sort through them to find the blogs. In the name, use "Warrior Cats", fill in your URL, and just post relevant comments.

i looked on google webmaster tools to see where my hits are coming from, i get about 70 clicks a day off google...not very good. "warrior cats" is the most common one that gets people in but the percentage is lower, probably because we are farther down the page.

I just seem to keep forgetting something: Those dreams and hopes that i imagine for myself, they never wind up happening, not even close. yet i still keep trying and then seem somehow surprised when it fails. i think that means I'm also pretty dumb.
This whole pity party thing was old in the first post. Stop.

It's only spam if it's unsolicited.

The "relevant comments" part makes it not spam. If you choose to not use them, then that's your issue.

Groovy star, I tried going to your site but won't load for me. It might be loading for you now.

Maybe not loading for everyone is one reason? Just a thought. You might want to check your site loading speed and uptime.

well i've been banned from places for that relevant stuff. I don't mess with it anymore ever since I got banned.

I need to hire a programmer to help me fix the site's load issues.
