Indexing Backlinks - How long does it take?

I already know how to get google indexing backlinks.

What I dont know is how long does it take after pinging them and submitting them to rss directories-agregrators and after submitting them to social bookmarking sites...

1-2 weeks?

Also, do we have to consider the backlinks google indexes or the ones yahoo indexes? cause google usually indexes a lot less backlinks than yahoo.

Thanks in advance!

From mere seconds to a month, depending on how important Google considers your site. High PR speeds things up considerably (Google generally crawls the Web in descending order of PR).

PhilipSEO is right about the timing, but I'd also like to make sure you understand the difference between *crawling* and *indexing*. If you ping your backlinks you will probably get them crawled, and obtain some form of credit for them, but if you can get them indexed so that they show as SERP results (though not necessarily as backlinks using the "link:" operator) you'll likely see a greater return on the time and effort you invest in building your backlinks.

When I comment on blogs, I then ping that blog URL using a free ping service. I find this can help speed up the indexing process a bit. Anybody else do this?

I do that as well. I also do it on some social bookmarking sites that allow you to see what specific users have posted. It helps a little but sometimes I feel like it doesn't do a whole lot.

I follow similar process to index my backlinks too like ping, RSS aggregators and Google Slingshot but I don't check which gets indexed and which don't. They can take too long to be indexed and I prefer to just do it and continue the process.

That will really depend on how quickly they picked it up. And we cannot give you the exact time. That will usually depend on the level of traffic in your site and how the SEs value you.

Ye, this is right. It is completely depends on the traffic and the appearance of your site. The way you get the response from traffic increases your site's value.

This can give you best search results in terms of raising your keywords.

according to phillipseo "(Google generally crawls the Web in descending order of PR)"

i think buying 2 domain with pr 2 (existing wordpress site) and use a script to auto post every link on the blog is a better option to make sure EVERY backlink index and count in the shortest time. correct me is have misunderstand this.

I never ping anything. Always leave it up to google. If your backlinks are web 2.0 based there is no rush google will get them sooner or later. Better think about the different titles, resource boxes etc. than pings and multi-sibmissions.

This is good ! More often than not I get way too absorbed in pinging than rather keep working on the site content. I guess the whole pinging has a notion of hoping to control the entire process some.

Thanks for bringing this to attention!

        I agree with you both.

I tested this while I added a couple of articles to UAW on a slow rate and I went on a 14 day Sailing trip ( without 1 second of internet-time ). When I came back...voila I believe I would have done more harm flickring with "the system" and pinging and nagging to Google.

        Dont rush it!

Here's what I've learnt from my cracker regarding network such as UAW and FTS...

It isn't the nagging. The main factor is WHERE the starting point is.

          For example:

You've posted articles to the network. Before they get crawled and indexed, you should track down the links or at least know where they'll be posted.

Next, put the backlinks in an authority page that has unique content. Make sure that this doesn't looks like a link farm.
