Does this (my) website risk duplicate content?

Hi,

I've built a small test site with a paid wordpress theme. I don't expect too much of it as far as design is concerned.

My concern is duplicate content : since the website has 2 boxes with the same text repeated in every page, is it likely to result in duplicate content?

Here is the website : w w w. ***********.com

Every indexed page shows the first box' text in google results, which looks annoying to me. (site:w w w.************* .com

(sorry, I'm too "young" to post links)

Do you guys have any thoughts please?

Thanks

  • Blog duplicate content is not as big a deal any more as it used to be, but it is certainly worthwhile, and is considered a "best practice," to perform URL Canonicalization on your site. And that should take care of that one!

    • I shouldn't have, but I took a look.

I think he's talking more about some type of header and side bar,
      with content disguised as ads.

Those are common. A lot of big sites use them. I use them. Makes
updating easy. That's not duplicate content. I should say the header
and side bar, not the ad "content" itself. But then if one puts adsense
in the same spots, (like most of us) I suppose it's similar. But his is a long
game rental ad. His pages seem to be canonical.

  • Right, and you have the basic non-www redirect up, varying title tags, and no pages jumping out at me with DC.. better than most sites asking for reviews.
  • Here is my 2 cents on the subject :

In my opinion, the perks of building the site this way are :
    - to put an action button right in front of the visitor at the top of every page.
    - to repeat the sales copy of the product in every page to "force" the visitor to see it.

No rocket science though, I'm currently testing the process.
