Dear Guys,

Greetings!

Could you guys please help me out about the traffic issue to my website?

Let me tell you about the problem...

I started to optimize a website which is a new one just launched two weeks back (website is kinkykelt.com). I started the on-page optimization like title, meta description and keywords, etc. and other on-page factor is going on. Also I did building links from various sources. While I saw the visitor statistics in Google Analytics on the very next day of my work, the amount of visitors was 76 on july 28, 2010. Thereafter a gradual increase in my statistics like, 90, 120, 140, etc. Suddenly, there was a drop in traffic on August 03, 2010 which was only 17 visitors. Till date, only a small amount of visitors coming to the website like 12, 15, 13, etc.

May I know why this dropping in statistics? Guys please help me out...

Looking forward to your valuable thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Kinky

I've had this many times on new websites. The last one had quite good traffic considering it was a new site but over a period of 5 days it went down to a trickle then stopped altogether. It reappeared some 3/4 months later again getting traffic and is now dancing about between positions 1 and 4.
The problem is Google who is trying to evaluate your site. Just keep on doing the usual by way of making more back links and exposure maybe with articles etc. Eventually you should see it return, that is, assuming you have done a half way decent job of on page optimisation.

Also, check the competition. Go to Seoquake and see what your competition is doing, may be they realised you are getting a lot of traffic and they started a baclink campaign.

    What to do?

Start a Press Release and submit 3-5 new articles to ezine articles. Ping all these and carry on adding fresh content to your site. If your competition see that you are serious, they might go and work on other keywords.

This. Plus I've found Twitter is a decent way to get some traffic if you have a good number of followers. I occasionally give a short sales pitch to catch peoples' eyes and throw my link in there (160 characters max so make it catchy but short). With ~200 followers I generally get 3-5 visitors on average after I tweet the link. Nothing huge but my followers are low and my site is new so I don't think that's too bad.
