Tweeting URLs, Count as high quality backlinks?

I noticed a social bookmarking service provider is posting URLs as tweets on Twitter accounts. Does anyone know or have an opinion on the quality of those backlinks? I would think they are low quality since they will cycle off quickly.

Any thoughts?

They're no follow so they don't help with rankings. The links are not bad if they help with traffic. That's the only reason why twitter can be profitable. The links have to be seen by people though.

If you set up a twitter account and build a huge list of targeted followers, you will be able to recommend products and make money. That's if they trust you and what you provide.

Services like the one mentioned above usually don't work out too well. The reason is because the viewers are not targeted, and you don't know if they are actually seeing the links. If a service is posting tweets that are not targeted, it is not going to help you make money or get traffic. Plus, they do drop off quickly like you said, so the amount of time the tweet is actually there will be short lived.

They are no follow yet they frequently show up in backlinks on Google webmaster tools so its a fast way to get a URL indexed.

      Yeah,HorseStall is right!

It doesn't help in increasing your backlinks and stuff, but it can get your site indexed quickly!

It won't work if you've shortened it,only the full URL will do!

Twitter links are nofollow but I've found with a good number of followers you can definitely increase traffic to your site. Just don't spam your link as often as possible like some people. You end up losing followers.

Last.fm uses Twitter as one of the sources. I think it makes sense to have at least 2 Twitter accounts, one to actually talk with people and another to spam links out to get them indexed (like all those profile links we all build)

Though Twitter is technically no follow, I currently have Twitter backlinks showing in Webmaster Tools. That tells me they count for something.......

Yep, and I know tweetmeme will drop a social bookmark-type link page for the first time someone clicks the "tweet me" button on the page/site.

Keep in mind that 'nofollow' doesn't truly mean no follow. It means don't pass any link credit, so nofollowed links are still followed (as others mention here)

If no link juice is given then it would not add to the PR count for an already indexed page/site.
