How long does it take for a back link to show up after I know my link has been approved on the other site?
#search engine optimization #backlink #question
  • It may be from from few days to few weeks.. No one can tell you the exact time.. But you better to ping that url to get that index fast...
  • It depends on how popular that site is. For unknown directories the backlink can take forever to show up so you would have to ping it.
  • Show up where? If you're waiting for it to show up in the output of the link: operator at Google or Yahoo! or in the inbound links shown in Google's webmaster tools, you may NEVER see it even though it's being counted as an inbound link.

The LINK: operator at Google and Yahoo! as well as the links in Google's WMT are only a "sample" of your inbound links. WMT typically shows a slightly larger sample than Google's LINK: operator. Yahoo! usually shows the most exhaustive list of backlinks (even though it too is a sample and ONLY for links known to Yahoo!)

NOTE: Google and Yahoo! will both include links in those outputs that are NOT being counted. Google for instance will show you nofollow links as well as links from URLs known to be under penalty. They don't want you to know which links they know about and which ones they are counting.

If the page your link is on is in Google's index and the URL linking to your URL has been crawled since the link went up, it's likely already being counted. Why do you need to "see it" to believe it?
  • You need google to find the link, just ping the site and submit RSS and google will find it!
  • Pinging them is the only way to get them indexed easily.

You can make a custom RSS feed and submit it for faster submission.

    • Can you please guide me Hi the procedure that after posintg a comment on any other site how can we create RSS feed?
(I am new to seo and in learning phase of link building)
  • how can i get backlink
  • I would say it is very much depend on the google crawler itself. There is 2 ways that i could recommend to speed up the process:

1 - Bookmark that backlink URL using digg
2 - automate the process of pinging, rss submission using senuke
  • What does everyone mean by "submit RSS" I am pinging the URL and if the Article Directory had a RSS link, I add that to Ping-O-Matic as well.
  • It depends on what you do to get it indexed.. You can ping it, bookmark it, etc, etc.. Or you just let the search engines decide when to index your link..
  • You can try a indexer link backlink booster or backlink index express.
  • Backlinks can show up within hours or days or months. The best bet is ensuring you list with the more popular sites.

    • I have to say - I think Social-Media-Marketing has a good question: Show up where?

Are you just trying to show a screenshot to a client? Are you focused on your rankings?

What's the goal you're trying to achieve?

  • depends..usually it takes a week before the effect takes place
  • a link could be discovered and indexed very fast, but on the other hand it could potentially never be indexed.
  • I just leave as it is and wait for a while to get is indexed by search engine. Never done such pinging prior.
  • To speed up the process ping the page which your link is on, add it to social bookmarks like DIGG. Now when it will show ... it can be days, weeks or months or you may never see it, at least in google. There is a better change to see it in Yahoo though.

But if you promote that page a little you'll speed up the process and even if the link doesn't show up, it will still be taken into effect.

    • Agreed. You can help Google (and the other search engines) find your link by promoting the link itself. You can do this manually, or there are several tools (i.e. - Backlink Booster, BIE, etc.) you can use to do it. In addition to helping Google find and index the link, these tools will also help give your link more link juice, which makes your link even more powerful at helping your site rise in search results.

However, Google processes links on its own schedule so there's no specific timeframe as to when Google will acknowledge the link. Sometimes it happens quickly; other times it can take weeks. But as a general rule, the more you promote your link the faster you will get credit for it, and the more credit you will get overall.
  • It depends entirely on the page that is linking to yours. If the page is updated regularly spiders will come more frequently. However, just because an SE bot finds your link doesn't mean they're going to index it right away, although they usually do.

In short no one can tell you for sure. It could be anywhere from a day to several weeks.
  • Since morning I have been trying to find an answer for one question. You normally are allowed two links in your resource box. First one is straight forward; you link it to your homepage. Is there any point in having the second link pointing to an inside page of the same website?

After the first link to a website, how much weight the second link to same website from the same article carry?

Sorry, I can not create my own thread yet as have not been active on this forum that much.
