Hi guys,

Do these types of links still work?

I wanted to rank an ezine artilce higher(it was on second page of Google) for a keyword and once I purchased 25 High PR profile backlinks it just disappeared. I tried searching for it but on results page number 20 I got tired.

How can I get it back to first pages of Google?

  • 25 backlinks is not enough keep backlinking buddy
  • I guess I sort of have a half-answer to that.

As far as whether or not they directly adn quickly impact your anking, I can't say.

I can say, however, that I deploy a variety of link building techniques, and the ones that seem to show up with the most consistency when I check in Yahoo's Site Explorerer are the profile links.

  • I don't see much traffic from my InfoBarrel profile links. And if there isn't real traffic then Google won't love it much.

Profiles at the side of the page are awful - my adsense CTR for that part of the screen is much lower than ads in the body text.

HubPages is much better as you can put links in your body text and people will be much more likely to follow them.
  • Yes profile links work.

As part of a fully-rounded, ongoing link building strategy.
  • A page is a page. So, wherever you get your link depends on the same factors..

That being said, you would consider these as a supplemental link. That is, the back links helping your solid-permanent links. I have seen some profile links really kick up a site's rankings in the past.

    • Why do the same exact threads come up every 24 hours. The search function is your friend.

I'm always up for answering questions, but most of us aren't too fond of regurgitating the same thing every single day.

    • Yeah, profile links work great as supplemental links. Sometimes they even work on their own.

Hey Brad, question. Can any links really be permanent except for your own sites? That is why I'm going to be starting my own network soon with C class ip's (thanks to tom, terry, and crew). Your seo videos are really good btw.

  • No profile links do not work.. don't waste your time.

    • Just curious, are you serious? Most of the answers in this thread are completely the opposite of yours and I have personally had good experiences with profile links. They might not carry as much weight as other methods, but it's still a backlink.
    • Really, they don't work huh?

Well thats interesting since I bought a package from Jeremy Kelsall, a respected member of this forum, and those links brought a site of mine from page 3, for its MAIN "keyword" to page one position number 4, behind only wikipedia, yahoo answers and exine articles in two weeks

My point here is that,by making blanket unequivical statements such as "No profile links do not work......" you are doing a disservice to new members that might actualy believe everything they read on this forum.

You obviously have no experience building massive profile links, so don't make statements that only months of trial and error could possibly justify.

      Peace
  • Profile links do work. But if you get 25 profile links in one day, and none for days to come, your site will look like spam. You need to generate links on a daily basis. Its got to be constant

    • Nonsense. Those links won't be found at the same time... unless you "help" Google find them. And even then - 25 links..? No one's going to penalize your site for that.

Try 25k profile links in one blast to a new site - now that might shake things up a bit. :p
  • What sites in your opinion won't go anywhere anytime soon? High ranking and established article directories/web 2.0 sites? I basically want to know for the long term. I definitely know blog comments and profile links aren't that stable.

    • There ya go! The only permanent links are on site's you own (or at least rent)

      Tom
  • Remember that link reports are no more than samples. This is especially true of Google. I work under the assumption that all links have temporary value; none are permanent. Thus continuous link building is a fact of life online. You need to keep running just to stay in place.

The true value of links is the traffic they produce--whether because of improved SERPs or direct referrals. Check to see what traffic is generated by the linking campaigns. The results may vary according to the niche. Sometimes article marketing is most beneficial, sometimes social bookmarking, etc.

Some of my links on this forum always show up, but which ones appear varies over time without apparent reason. The same is true for other forum comments and profiles.

With comments and profiles, as with anything else, content is king. Make a contribution and traffic will follow. Links will then take care of themselves.

Brad's MyArticleNetwork is a good, affordable source of links from lower PR sites, but I also get a lot of traffic from the links embedded in the articles. (So far, I have had limited success with his brother's--Matt--SEOLinkVine, but I hope that will improve soon as another article marketing venue.
  • Profile links work for me. But i just do not rely on this. Do some other forms of link building also.
  • it works but you need hundred of profile links and also to get links from real sites

  • Profile links work but they can be deleted very soon as the site administrator might think of it as a spam. One thing I do that makes my profile links stay for long is that I make a new account on a website and I dont post my links until 2-3 days of my account creation. So create an account leave it then come back after 2-3 days and then post your links in your profile.

    • Also most of the profile links are "nofollow".

  • I think you should post many types of links only profile link building cannot give you best result.
